Bettinelli reports:
I just got this message from Rod Dreher:
"On Sunday, The Dallas Morning News will begin publishing the results of a major yearlong investigation into a largely uncovered aspect of the Catholic sex abuse scandal. The series of stories are international in scope, and will make headlines nationally and overseas. Im not at liberty to disclose details yet, but Ive seen advanced copies of the articles, and they are devastating. I believe at this point, more details will be available on Friday morning, when one of the reporters on the series does an interview on National Public Radios Morning Edition. The stories will be available on the dallasnews.com website starting either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
I expect these stories to dominate conversation among concerned American Catholics next week, and into the early summer (because there will be much more to come; next weeks series only reveals part of what our reporters have uncovered and documented). These findings give lie to the claim from Church officialdom that this scandal is over. The cover-up continues."
Rod Dreher confirms:
"Not only stories, but photographs. Ive seen the planned cover of Sundays DMN. The picture theyre going to run is a jaw-dropper...I hate to tell you this, but the bishops already know. They have known. They hoped you and I wouldnt find out. Thats part of the story... Also, our people are now talking to national media about this. Starting Friday night, you might be seeing stuff about this. Ill let Dom and others know if any early media appearances are scheduled."

"Go, Jeb, Go!"
She didn't "excommunicate" herself. She placed herself outside the graces of the Church, but did not leave the Church.
Excommunication is a specific penalty for a specific action. Sin does NOT equal excommunication.
**The only ones left to implicate in this scandal are those we have always suspected, that have escaped public exposure.**
Such as Mahoney?
I've got plenty of heart but I don't like liars. I stayed away from this thread til now. When a poster tells outright falsehoods it's time to step in.
There have been no falsehoods, unless you're referring to the ancients, who were scandalized by a women left by her husband.
Oh, for pity's sake, Peach was seven years old when all this happened. Give her a break. All she knows is that the Catholic church was not warm and fuzzy about her family's trauma. Any religion that is so dogmatic that it does not relate to the weakest of it's parishoners is worthless. The Bible says that who so ever believeth in him shall have everlasting last life, it doesn't mention anything about unless you break the rules of the Catholic church.
**I can -- for example, suppose that there were priests who "shared" their conquests with other priests. Suppose there were websites, pictures, and "procurement agencies." Suppose there were all sorts of Catholic clergy, up to and including bishops (and higher?) involved.**
And with an international flair from what I can fathom.
Yep.
Any religion that is so dogmatic that it does not relate to the weakest of it's parishoners is worthless.
Any poster who bashes Catholics like you just did must be pretty worthless herself. How disgusting.
Yep.

Let me get this straight. A "Catholic" deacon just called the Catholic Church worthless. sink, I rarely if ever have made an issue out of this but this statement is so far beyond anything you have ever said I am flabbergasted. You need a spanking.
Oh, you....! LOL (took me a minute!)
She didn't talk about TODAY, except that silly quote from the Diocese of Lincoln.
If Lincoln is her model, no wonder she's not ready to come back to the Church.
You got a quickie annulment, which you would not have gotten in the days before Vatican II.
We reach out to those who have suffered through a death, divorce, separation or loss of a loved child or parent. A valid resource in your area awaits your recommendations!
In the days before Vatican II I would not have married in the first place. The thing was a disaster from start to finish. We never would have made it to the wedding.
Thankfully, the Catholic Church does not do that.
My wife would not take kindly to your spanking me.
You also changed your story by saying your father "walked out" and THAT was the reason for the denial of the sacraments. Then you changed it to say that it was because of divorce, which you were not clear about in the original story.
Also, even if your mother believed the priest when he said she couldn't receive the sacraments, it didn't mean she was not allowed to attend Mass and take you with her.
By the way, if you were only 7 at the time and were the eldest, none of the children in your family would have even had their First Communion anyway. Back then First Eucharist was received in the 3rd grade at age 8. I suspect there's more to this story than you pose.
Perhaps it is better if you don't post personal stories, if you are so thin-skinned that you perceive skepticism of your ever-changing anecdote as an attack.
I am happy I am divorced. I am thrilled! The only thing I regret is marrying the con artist bum in the first place. The only wounds I have are the empty bank account and the humiliation of involving myself with a user.
The worst day of my life was my wedding day. The day we split was one of the happiest days of my life.
