Bettinelli reports:
I just got this message from Rod Dreher:
"On Sunday, The Dallas Morning News will begin publishing the results of a major yearlong investigation into a largely uncovered aspect of the Catholic sex abuse scandal. The series of stories are international in scope, and will make headlines nationally and overseas. Im not at liberty to disclose details yet, but Ive seen advanced copies of the articles, and they are devastating. I believe at this point, more details will be available on Friday morning, when one of the reporters on the series does an interview on National Public Radios Morning Edition. The stories will be available on the dallasnews.com website starting either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
I expect these stories to dominate conversation among concerned American Catholics next week, and into the early summer (because there will be much more to come; next weeks series only reveals part of what our reporters have uncovered and documented). These findings give lie to the claim from Church officialdom that this scandal is over. The cover-up continues."
Rod Dreher confirms:
"Not only stories, but photographs. Ive seen the planned cover of Sundays DMN. The picture theyre going to run is a jaw-dropper...I hate to tell you this, but the bishops already know. They have known. They hoped you and I wouldnt find out. Thats part of the story... Also, our people are now talking to national media about this. Starting Friday night, you might be seeing stuff about this. Ill let Dom and others know if any early media appearances are scheduled."

What could be so bad? Halliburton contractors building illicit confessional booths?
And the church thought they had the moral authority to tell Bush that the war in Iraq was immoral?
I really feel a great deal of pain for catholics. I just can't help but feel that catholics as a whole are getting a bad rap.
The moral authority is derived from God. What's your problem with God?
This is hugh. It could be series.
I'll wait to sift the substance from the sensationalism.
What's your problem with God?Only that God was wrong about Iraq. And Bush was right.
That's a strawman argument. No argument with God. Just the spokespeople within the church who think they have the moral authority to comment on the war. They can't even get their own house in order.
And, let me say, I used to be Catholic and went to Catholic church. Until I was 8. My father walked out the door when on the day JFK was killed. My sister was 3 weeks old. There were 4 of us kids. The priest came the following week to tell my mother none of us could receive the sacrament. Previous to that, the church had been a source of comfort to her, and to us.
This needs to happen. Change won't occur until the evil elements are driven out of the Church...
So Abu Ghraib will be on the second page now?
As in any organization there is always bad. What we hope for the most is that the house will be cleaned out. And cleaned out good this time. If this is true, I can imagine the meltdown that will occur, including here.
If they can't blame it on Bush, they won't bother with it.
Probably a good idea.
FYI, yesterday, after information was posted in the late afternoon about neocommunist Congressman Martin Frost being charged in a campaign finance abuse issue, I called for bets on its coverage in today's DMN.
It wasn't! It was on the front page of the Fort Worth Startlegram. The DMN had a small article on the second page of the second section announcing that Frost's office said the charge was frivolous. No coverage of the charges of criminal activity.
So, while your revalations might be of concern to Catholics and the priests who have enjoyed the lavish life styles, my bet is that the DMN will use it to jab Bush or, like a spigot, to divert attention from Bush when something good happens or from Flipper John when something bad (for him) happens.
But, thanks for the heads up!
Leftists in general, and media leftists in particular, absolutely hate the Catholic Church.
However, if this is going on, and there's yet another coverup, I'd say the Catholic Church has nobody to blame but itself, and they've broken faith with their flock.
At this point, unless the Pope is personally implicated in the coverup, it's hard to see how any more damage can be done. It's not as if the American hierarchy has any credibility left to lose.
So, they have pictures of the Pope with a dog leash?
Huh?
My faith has seen fit to toss scripture aside and go for the PC angle. I'm methodist. I still have my faith, I just have little use for the church.
