Tonga deploys soldiers to Iraq

A contingent of Tongan soldiers is heading to the Middle East to join American forces in Iraq.

The 44 Tongan troops will travel to Kuwait first, and after acclimatising will then join the First US Marine Division.

Their exact role hasn't been determined, but at first it is likely they will be confined to camp duties and training.

The Tongan Government says the Kingdom's contribution to the effort to bring peace and stability to Iraq is relative to what the country can afford.

The Tongans are expecting to stay in Iraq for six months

The Iron Sheik:

Pffft! These Tongans are too fat to defeat the mighty Muslim warriors of Iraq! As much as I despise those despicable Arab dogs, I must say that they will eat the Tongans for breakfast. Then they will get indigestion for three weeks. Allahu Akbar! I must return to my regular duties as bouncer for "East Side Legz." The wrestling biz has been cruel to the mighty Iron Sheik. (Sob. Sniffle.)

Not bad.

Though, I always preferred the "Wild Samoans" myself.

I'm currently in Tonga. So far, all the soldiers I've seen here appear fit and definately not fat. Tongans are great people, and some of the friendliest I've ever met.

If Tongans are anything like Samoans, the Iraqi insurgents are in for it.

Ask any martial artist in a competitive martial art what he thinks about going up against Samoans. It ain't fun.

What do Tongans/Samoans eat?

Anything they damn well want to eat.

Its a joke. I happen to be good friends with a Tongan family, great people, very Christian based and hearts full of 'Big Love.'

It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

IMHO, history will look back (that is if the Dems don't change the text books) on Iraqi Freedom and once again see the United States as the Lone Star shining in the black of night.

I don't doubt it.

It's really impressive how smaller nations-who you wouldn't normally associate with military or diplomatic clout-are more willing to support the United States than their former colonizers.

Countries like Albania, Rwanda, Georgia, etc., have all done more to combat terror than all of the major powers of the European Union combined.

The triple entente of France, Russia and Germany are all less valuable than the moral force emanating from these smaller nations, who are the real leaders of the "free world."

I never knew that.

I suppose that wrestling and martial arts are similar enough, and I know that the Samoans are some of the most prolific wrestlers/football players out there.
