From what I gather, the retired SpecOps guys are given a choice of their old pay grade or a top level GS pay grade and sent to Bragg to act as trainers at the Special Warfare School. They are given whatever exemptions they need such as physical training or certain health stuff or excusal from jump status for bad knees or whatever. That frees up the young studs to deploy to combat zones. I hear its a really good deal for those retirees. I know a few former SpecOps Officers now serving in other than SF assignments who are getting ready to retire. Afraid of the new STOP/LOSS orders, they may get around that by agreeing to go to Bragg as trainers back in the green beanies.

That fits. At the last family reunion when I asked my cousin about her husband, since he wasn't there, she said he was back at Bragg doing Ops training. A recent email said he was overseas but would be back soon, a very short deployment. I grew up with a Dept. of Defense Dad so I learned early on not to ask too many questions. Now, when the day comes that my brother does retire I'll quit being the worrying little sister.
