I never went past my junior high years with the Masons. I never saw anything evil while I was part of the Lodge though. Granted I was young. But usually, even young, you get uncomfortable when you see something not right even if you don't understand it.

I do not think we are so far apart, Quix. But it takes some talking to understand each other.

Please know that , in my opinion, there is no conflict between the proper study of astrology and the word of God, as found in the Bible.

There is mighty wrong in using God's language in profane ways. Using astrology in a "soothsaying" manner is just that, and the Bible is quite clear that we are not to engage in that kind of activity, as we do not know the mind of God, and cannot pretend that we do.

"There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven" Ecclesiates 3

Astrology, properly understood, is, I think, one way Man can understand that God has a divine plan and purpose for all things temporal.

To put today's transits into perspective in a Christian way, we could know ahead of time that this period would be a "time for tears... a time for mourning", BUT we could have no knowledge of the details of the event causing our sense of loss and grief.

Now, some will claim that they have this power to predict the future, but these are fools and liars.

To condemn the study of God's incredible handiwork in the heavens because some use it in sinful ways is, I think, understandable, but inhibits the acquisition of the wisdom God hopes we will develop.

"The wise man sees ahead, the fool walks in the dark"

The so-called "astrologers" of today make me think of Job's final answer to God.

"I know you are all-powerful:
what you conceive, you can perform.
I am the man who obscured your designs
with my empty-headed words.
I have been holding forth on matters I cannot understand,
on marvels beyond me and my knowledge.

Please go forth and tell those who are so silly as to ask your sign to please stop "holding forth on matters they cannot understand, and to stop obscuring God's design with their empty-headed words"...

Then, if they respond with an appropriate question, indicating that they are ready to hear, point them to the sacred nature of God's design, and how wrong it is to use it in such ridiculously simplistic ways, which the Bible condemns.

Associated Press ^ | 6/11/04 | ROBERT H. REID
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Fistfights broke out Friday around Najaf's most sacred shrine, a day after U.S. troops refused to intervene when gunmen loyal to a radical cleric ransacked an Iraqi police station there. Coalition forces came under fire in another Shiite city south of Baghdad. In the capital, a car bomb exploded on a highway in the Sayediya district as a U.S. patrol passed nearby. Two U.S. Humvees were slightly damaged but there was no U.S. confirmation of any casualties. The trouble in Najaf started Friday morning when hundreds of protesters marched toward the Imam Ali Shrine to express support...

WRAL-TV Raleigh ^ | 06/11/2004 | Melissa Buscher
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina State Capitol, the N.C. Museum of History, the Archives and History/State Library building, and the Capitol Area Visitor Center will be closed on Saturday, June 12, due to citywide protests following the G-8 Summit in Georgia. Officials with the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources made the decision Thursday after a permit was given to protest at the Childrens Garden, which is close to the buildings. All public programs scheduled for Saturday at those facilities are canceled.

I was only reflecting the thoughts of many that post on this forum. Many here continue to talk about nuking Mecca, killemall and let Alah sort em out, etc. If a candidate was to say he would devoid the world of Islam, that candidate would get many here to follow him in his quest.I have heard talk that genocide is a viable solution, that is the same talk Hitler gave and some here agree. That is unfortunate that some think that way but at times frustration gets in the way of common sense.

Suspicious Device Found Near Wash. Ferry

Friday June 11, 2004 2:46 PM

SOUTHWORTH, Wash. (AP) - A suspicious device was removed from a skiff near a state ferry terminal west of Seattle early Friday, and ferry service that had been canceled during the scare was allowed to resume, authorities said.

The device was a battery with wires leading into a bottle containing an unknown liquid, Washington State Patrol Lt. Helmut Steele said.

A bomb squad ``rendered the device safe'' and it was removed for further investigation, Steele said. He would not provide additional details.

Three ferry runs in each direction were canceled after a passenger noticed a 12-foot aluminum boat tied to the dock at the terminal Thursday night and alerted a crew member, who spotted the device, Steele said.

After the device was removed, ferry crews resumed service between the Kitsap Peninsula town of Southworth and Vashon Island, west of Seattle in Puget Sound, ferry system spokeswoman Susan Huether-Harris said.

Ownership of the skiff was under investigation.

All my years taking the subways in NYC left me unsurprised at how more folks did not get involved to help the soldier in Atlanta. I bet you have seen this also. Most folks pretend they do not notice lunatic behaviour in city subways and on the platforms. It shouldn't be that way though. It's the old Kitty Genovese syndrome (for those reading this who do not know about this classic psychological study: Genovese was killed in Kew Gardens, Queens decades ago after her scared neighborhood did not respond to her loud screams). We could stop some of the fear if we were all allowed to carry, IMO.

Quix is right in saying that the woman who stepped in was the only one who had the much-needed cajones. She and the soldier are heroes!

You are quite right about the Kitty G syndrome.

Whenever there's real or perceived difusion of responsibility, the chances for help are greatly diminished.

I haven't heard or read of the following but were I in such a situation, I think [other than praying energetically in tongues] I'd scan those around and call out to the most likely responsible person by a clothing description or some such and ask for a specific action.

But given the raging sanctioned rebellion labeled individual freedoms; the hideous excuses for parenting yielding the dreadful lack of training in responsibility, I suppose it's a wonder the rest of the train car didn't join in, in the attack!

That's interesting, Calpernia. I would like to hear from others if they have witnessed more helping then looking downward and ignoring. I have seen this on Long Island trains, Amtrak trains, NYC subways, etc. Not to mention city streets. I would like to believe that more folks help, but not in my experience at all from what I have personally seen. People tend to help more once the assaulter or the verbal abuser or other troublemaker has left.

However, I can see that post-911 has changed many people -- at least towards Muslims who may be terrorists or terrorist supporters. I think that is the key distinction here with the soldier in Atlanta. I am glad that someone would try to assist one of our soldiers.

Blood sausage, quite popular in Europe, is made(usually) from pigs' blood, suet, and a binder of some sort, often bread crumbs or/and oatmeal. Not to my taste, but the Euros seem to love it.

I can't help but wonder what all that pigs blood was for that truck had an accident with in Germany. 9,000 gallons I think it was.

I'd guess for blood sausage.

I understand.

Other than other's research . . . my own experience in counseling has observed that men with such a background are extremely difficult to impossible to get beyond certain uhhhh serious difficulties unless and until they break the vows and membership in Masons.

And, many times, their . . . articles related to such in their home will cause the hair on my neck to raise--for whatever reason.
