I'd love to hear the air traffic control for this flight all the way out

So would I!

I would bet every time they come up on a new Air Traffic Control frequency, all will go quiet. Then the chatter will start as every aircraft and each available controller on frequency comes up on the air to pay their respects.

I would also bet many of individual airline pilots will put their passenger cabins on the frequency so the people in the back can hear the tributes and be aware of the historic passing of the Presidential aircraft. It will be heartwarming for all involved and as solemn, respectful and memorable as the motorcade of the hearse.

Count on it.

I wish I could be there to hear and join in the tributes. I wish I were there and able to give that individual tribute to such a great American and wonderful President.

The first time I ever heard "Amazing Grace" was on Rod Stewart's "Every Picture Tells a Story" album.

It's on there, right? I was about 13 or so when that came out.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the resurgence of Amazing Grace can be traced back to the film release Joseph Wambaugh's The Onion Field. The L.A. police officer who was killed on duty was of Scottish descent so they had a bagpiper at his funeral. Was that Amazing Grace that the bagpiper played? In any event it was definitely the start of the use of bagpipers at the funerals of police officers, firemen, and many others. Check it out but I think that is the genesis of bagpipers at funerals in America (with the notable exception of the Irish Bagpipers at JFK's funeral in 1963) and perhaps the start of the renewed popularity of Amazing Grace.

Thanks for the information. It certainly verifies the comment that Nancy moved him to the right........but not until he was moving in that direction on his own before they met.

Nobody played it better than Commander Montgomery Scot.

I guess we can't track the progress of the flight on Trip.com either.

Dumb question but, if anyone knows the flight schedule/path can't they listen to the webcasts as AF1 goes over each respective tower? I know nothing about ATC so I am wondering. I googled it and know that you can hear some towers live on the internet. I don't know if it is anything that would satisfy what we would like to hear though.

Yes, it was "Amazing Grace" in The Onion Field - I remember that well. Beautifully done, and I agree that the trend started there.
The piper at one uncle's funeral was so bad that my mother and my aunt started laughing. My mother later put it in her will that she did not want a piper at her funeral, but wanted a very Catholic rendering of "Ave Maria" instead.

Mr. C4E and I have been watching the TV and the moving prodical of the last respects for our President. Some staff members were watching too. All conservatives we. Mr. C4E asked me if I remembered the code names for President and Mrs. Reagan. I replied I thought they were 'Rawhide' and 'Rainbow.' Mr. C4E confirmed those were the names. The staff member asked what were the names for the Clintons. As God is my witness, before I even thought I blurted out 'douchbag' and 'scumbag.' I have to admit it was not very nice and I was horrified with what I had said.

BTW, every single one of Emily Dickinson's poems can be sung to the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas."

I have no idea if you're serious or not, but that is a hilarious sentence! I can't wait to find a way to work that into every day chit-chat.
