Nope, it is a huge mistake in the long-term for Kerry.

Consider that he:

1) Cut in line while the 'commoners' had to spend hours in line

2) Brought his own cameraman

3) Politicized the visit by taking a jab and President Bush(saying he met Reagan more than he has Bush)

None of that will be noted on tonight's news, but it will buzz through talk radio, the internet, and water coolers. It will be just another example reinforcing his image of a somewhat phony overly self-conscious opportunist politician who often sticks his foot in his mouth, overreacting in his statements, trying too hard. The contrast between his behavior and President Bush's class will once again stand out.

He is simply following in the footsteps of Gore, slowly self-destructing as he unintentionally defines himself.

Hope you're right.

In a just world, Kerry buried himself today.

This is what makes me most angry. He knows nothing of those of us who must work for a living, who stand in lines, who aren't people of privilege or power. If he did, he would never, ever have pulled this stunt today.
