I wondered why Kadafhi gave up his WMD programs and invited the Brits in to box it all up and move it all out. I don't really trust the guy, but perhaps he was approached by Al Queda (and didn't like the idea of following in Saddam's footsteps)or maybe he just saw the scum bags setting up camp in neighboring North African countries and got scared. He certainly has no love of the US after Reagan blew the crap out of one of his living quarters. He was curiously silent for a long time. I think he sees the WOT moving along to North Africa after we mop up the Iraq theater.

That's ancient history. His son has gotten over that. So should you.

He is a secularist, disgusted with our allies, the Saudis.

He's focused on Africa and wants to modernise his country.

We should get over our obsessions with oldtimes andwelcome anyone who wishes to be our ally against the Jihad.

In fact, Libya put out the first Interpol Red Warrant for Osama in 1995, when he was still a darlling of the British and American Intel Services.

Compared to the Saudis and the Pakistanis, he's the very paragon of trustworthiness.
