Thatcher, Gorbachev to Attend Reagan Funeral

VOA News
07 Jun 2004, 16:49 UTC

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev are among the prominent figures planning to attend Friday's state funeral for Ronald Reagan at Washington's National Cathedral.

The former British leader has given up public speaking after a series of strokes, but will deliver a vidoetaped eulogy recorded several months before Mr. Reagan's death.

She considered Reagan a dear friend. I am not amazed. I think she really loved him, in a platonic way. God bless her.

Lady Thatcher's health is rather frail. I don't want to tempt fate, but it is highly possible that God will call her home in the near future.

Hello Dear Freepers,
This is my very first post, although I have been following this thread for quite a long time. I thought this was probably the best time to come out of lurkdom, and let my first post be a tribute to President Reagan.
I am incredibly moved and emotional and I have sought solace here at this site. You cannot imagine how much I have come to know many of you here! Miss Marple, Peach, Howlin, Pukin Dog, to name a few!
Thanks to all of you for your insight, ideas, common sense, debate, etc.
Thank you, President Reagan! You, sir, are a treasure beyond measure!
