Gore says Miami Mayor Penelas betrayed Democrats
Former Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore delivered a harsh message to Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, three months before he faces a U.S. Senate primary.

Former Vice President Al Gore, who lost the 2000 presidential election by 537 votes in Florida, on Saturday called Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas ``the single most treacherous and dishonest person I dealt with during the campaign anywhere in America.''
The statement was e-mailed by a Gore spokesman in response to a Herald inquiry about Penelas's role in the 2000 campaign. Gore supporters say the vice president had counted on Penelas for a late boost in the Hispanic community, and the mayor did not come through.
The harsh remarks come just three months before Penelas faces a Democratic primary election for the U.S. Senate. Gore's reproach could seriously damage the mayor's bid to succeed Sen. Bob Graham, since party loyalists tend to dominate turnout in a primary.
In a telephone interview Saturday evening, Penelas defended himself, saying he was ``by Gore's side from the very beginning.''
''Al Gore has a right to be upset about the election, but had he won his home state of Tennessee or West Virginia, we wouldn't be here,'' Penelas said. ``He also owes an explanation as to why he waited until the middle of October to engage in Florida.''
He said Gore has declined to return his phone calls to discuss the 2000 campaign.

No the Elian Gonzalez items are 100% compatable. It is you who are denying reality.
No question about it. Gore is CRAZY.
I can't add a thing to your observation!
I saw this article this morning in the Herald. Ironically it was on the front page where Reagan's death was the main story. Interesting contrast: Gore's bitterness and Reagan's sunny disposition. And I don't recall Reagan lashing out bitterly after he narrowly lost the nomination to Gerald Ford.
Bad strategy. Most Cubans down here are registered Republicans and can't vote in the Democrat primary.
IIRC, It was posted here by a Freeper that from a young age, until they are a lot older, ALL children are required to attend Cuban "school"......so they can learn "the ropes"....
...and for part of it, kids "learn" just from their "teachers",and are separated from the parents durring certain times in the Cuban school "learning experience".
...but gee...it's not like I've NEVER been wrong before
Well, the TN Democrats (with "moderate" GOP help) elected a liberal governor in 2002 to do penance for defeating Gore in 2000.
You can't make this stuff up, and God knows we need a good laugh just about now. Great picture. Funny and so true.
LOL!...Good Line :))
Yup. The first thing they did when they got into the WH was requisition FBI files and fire all the lawyers (and the WH travel office). They had to have a compliant attorney general because they planned to break any law they found inconvenient. Intimidation, threats, blackmail, lies, Bubba's sexual escapades, murder. Arkancide on the Potomac. Thank God they're gone. Gore can't get over having been screwed by Hill and Bill. He can't threaten the big fish, so he goes after small fry. He's such a loser.
ROFPIMPLOL!!..changing underwear now.:))
The Government of Cuba owns the home, they are assigned it. There is no private property in Cuba.
Nobody's arguing otherwise that I can see. The assertion was made that Elian does not live with his father. I have read several times, even recently, that he does. I asked the claimant to prove his assertion. He ignored me.
Of course he is also trotted out on Communist revolution holidays and parrots his little pro-revolution speeches. His father was given an new job and all have governement minders that keep them watched. Just peachy.
The moral of the story is: Always have your facts straight in debate. There have been a few other examples of sloppy assertions in this thread, but the claim that Elian does not live with his father was the most egregious.
To say that Elian was sent back to Cuba because of parental rights is a wretched joke perpetrated upon Elian, for in Cuba there are no parental rights. The communist State literaly owns all the children.
I don't watch much TV although I have 6 or more for some reason - I suspect it has something to do with our kids and my wife's Target card. But I digress ... Did 'ol Algore do this using his 'S'thrn Baptist Preacher act? Anyone?
