Global Warmers Adopt New Tactic
FoxNews.com ^ | June 4, 2004 | Steven Milloy

The global warming treaty known as the Kyoto protocol is politically dead in the U.S. But the treaty's left-leaning environmental extremist supporters haven't given up their fantasy of creating a socialist global economy through controls on energy use.

Rather, they've merely switched tactics to achieve that dubious aim -- and I'm not referring to making dopey movies like "The Day After Tomorrow". The new tactic is to pressure publicly owned corporations into taking steps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions -- essentially committing to private Kyoto protocols on a corporation-by-corporation basis.

The sort of pressure employed by the global warming activists is not the usual one of forcing corporate managements to cave-in under the threat of bad publicity. Instead, the activists are becoming shareholders of publicly owned companies, attempting to steer corporate policy under the guise of being owners of the corporations. During 2003, these activist-shareholders filed resolutions with more than 25 companies urging the companies to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Nice, huh? When will these idiots learn that those of us with a little common sense are not morally obligated to share their view of the world?

They get dressed up in wind-efficient sports clothing and ride their mountain bikes 3 miles to class--the frame alone costs $1000--and then ride home again having saved us from the evil CO2, and then pile into their noisy, bucking stinking little economy car to go to the mall to buy fresh mountain bike socks. Yes, they do. All their friends ride mountain bikes, too, unless it rains or is cold, which it is 90% of the time.

It's ironic that one of the "Day After Tomorrow's" creators, talk radio personality Art Bell, used to be a fairly staunch libertarian/conservative who first made a splash as the Limbaugh of late night AM radio.

Well they've already got their people inside the corporations. Imagine bios that look something like: 1970, BA Political Science, Hoffstra University; 1978, JD, NYU; 1979 - 1985, Partner - Schmuck, Schlong and Schmo Law Firm; 1985 - 1990; Director of Business Development - Acme Electric Co; 1990 - 1998; Vice President of Marketing - Commusell Aerospace Corporation; 1998 - present; Executive Vice President; Big Three Automobile Company .... etc.

I think they've got something there.

I went out in the garden and picked some tomatos an hour ago, and you know what? They were hot.

It's gonna be okay though. I put them in the global cooler and they will chill right down.

We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperature's rising,
It isn't surprising,
She certainly can can-can.

She started a heat wave
By letting her seat wave
In such a way that
The customers say that
She certainly can can-can.

Gee, her anatomy
Makes the mercury
Jump to ninety-three.

We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The way that she moves
That thermometer proves
That she certainly can can-can.

"...and then pile into their noisy, bucking stinking little economy car..."

Actually, I see most of those types here in Madison, driving Volvos, Audis and the occasional Mercedes.

Maybe we should practise holding our breaths - will reduce the Carbon.

Climatologists interviewed on the radio and tv about the Day After Tomorrow scenario have all stated that global warming is a reality - what is NOT a reality is the significance of human contribution to the same.

The earth has warmed up and cooled down throughout its geological history and based on recent Pleistocene events, we should be heading for a gradual cooling sometime ni the future.

If they want something REAL to worry about - they should worry about polar reversals. Changes in the earth's core indicate a polar reversal is about to occur within the not too distant future. They are currently magnetic anomalies beneath the Pacific where magnetic north isn't where its supposed to be.

Or they could worry about rogue asteroids imploding into the earth's surface.

But I guess they can't blame this on the Capitalist life style, so its of no interest to them.

How much do you think this screen gem costs ?
The lefties could probably solve most of the problems they bloviate over instead of wasting their money on defective democrat candidates and hand-wringing movies.

That's great. If they want to participate in the market. If they succeed in getting the companies to adopt their measures, those companies will see their costs rise and will lose market share and/or fail. If theses shareholders don't get enough of a stake to affect the company's policy then they have put otherwise sterile capital, foundation money and the like, into productive use.
