Bottom line is Tenet is out and Rumsfeld is still in.
That tells us everything.
Not to worry.
It's possible that the Plame and Chalabi investigations will make the CIA look so bad that people will demand that the director resign; anticipating that, Tenet is launching a "pre-emptive resignation."
I'm not worried at all.
Tenet has stayed longer than most CIA directors. He served through some difficult years and under the former president who didn't give him the tools he needed to fight terrorism.
Abu Ghraib was NOT discussed yesterday....nothing new.
What WAS new was the revelation that Pres. Bush requires the services of a personal lawyer in the Valerie Pflame/Wilson/Niger affair.
That IS directly connected to the CIA.
If MI/DIA was doing the interrogation of Abu Ghraib prisoners, then the CIA would have plausible deniability on that one.
