"I can't think of a CIA Director that has overseen more intelligence failures.

Somelthing tells me this has much more to do with the report coming from the 9/11 Commission and Chalabi than anything else."

And WMD's.. And a ton of stuff. He's been very incompetent. The entire agency just isn't up to snuff.

The only fact so far is that this is another disaster for Bush.

Time will tell if it's a disaster or not....

Perhaps a few more exclamation points would help me understand you better.

UNLESS (only unless) Tenet decides to strongly support President Bush's re-election.

I have a feeling that he will. In fact I think it's as likely he's leaving so that he can speak openly and freely about issues that may well help the President. Imagine what he might have to say about Plame, Iraq intelligence, September 11, etc. without being handcuffed by the politics of his position as CIA chief. It would be quite amusing, as Pelosi and the gang defend Tenet as a victim and say he shouldn't be the fall guy, to have him come back on the attack.

loved how Nancy Pelosi trying to bash Bush with this and the first question from a reporter was about Tenat's slam dunk comment. she stumbled a bit after that.

I see - as usual - that a number of barroom brawls have broken out in The Right-Wing Saloon (FR). And liberals say that all conservatives think alike! lol

I doubt that. He's too much of a liberal lightning rod ever to be confirmed.

well to be honest, most of the media's other "ammo" came in the form of lies: Iraq is a quagmire, US soldiers are "torturers", Bush knew about 9/11 in advance, and on and on.

What scares me about this one is that there is something substanative behind it - this guy resigned for a reason.

Daschle, saying he wants more information about Tenet's resignation.

Fox just replayed President's comments on the Tenet resignation.... with a songbird chirping in the background....a bit surreal....

Statements by Daschle pretty good....saying job was one of the toughest in Washington.,..

I think they know of massive coming attacks they can't stop, or some horrible revelation about the war or something will come out. Something's up.

"Excellent post, I'll add that Tenet may yet be vindicated on the WMD Intel"

Yup!.... and the White House has some of the best minds in the world dealing with our two front war.

Let the Dems and Media stew in all this. Our guys know what they are doing.

indeed, I posted this earlier. who exactly is going to track whether Tenet moves his family to Montana?

No good or simple answer. Checking the real estate listings for McLean, Langley, etc. might give hints, but my guess is that any move will be kept very much under wraps. One would think that some enterprising journalist (e.g. Bill Gertz) might want to check up on this.

Indeed I am.
It's going to be a heated time on FR between now and the election, too.
