Hey, can we get in on the betting? Start a pool, and everybody meet in the middle of the U.S. for a BBQ and beer payoff?

Makes total sense -- retiring from the House, current chairman of House Select Committee on Intel, and a former agent.

There is no more effective advocate for the Iraq policy than Rudy, including Bush himself. He's very good at it.

There is no way Tenet will write a book bashing the president. I think they both like each other and there is no evidence that Tenet has been disloyal to the president, ever.

Also, McCain as CIA Director? Are you nut?

McCain does not have the mental stability to be director of the CIA and barely hangs in there, stability wise, as a senator.

Well, if it's inaccurate - and he did give that whole fall-on-his-sword-sort-of statement as well - then so be it. I don't know whether Tenet bears any grudges, and in my observation his record of supporting the White House has been mixed. There are plenty of things to bring up indicating favorable sentiments and plenty indicating quite to the contrary. My original statement was inconclusive and speculative - for good reason - so I'll stand by that.

It will be interesting to see "if" means that there may well be nothing to see. I meant what I said to begin with.

This is really bad timing if this is just for "personal reasons".

My first thought with the private council/Plame story making the rounds. At least on FNC they did mention that Tenet wanted to resign before Iraq, but GWB changed his mind.

No it isn't. Make McCain director. That will force the RATS to shoot themselves in the head.

Gads no! We need a director of the CIA that's not insane. Someone who does not have a cancerous mass pushing against the side of his brain.

McCain is WAY to Dr. Stranglove to be in any gov't position as it is.

I think it could be someone like Eberhardt or a name we've never heard of.

Did you see the last article about him in The New Yorker, I think it was? Their were direct quotes from him about everybody and everything in this administration and it was NOT good. He's a whiner and a gossip; he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut and he is NOT a team player; it's all about him.

I forgot to mention the 9-11 investigation as another potential source of calls for Tenet's resignation - Chalabi, Plame, 9-11; three strikes and you're out.

Tenet is highly likely to be critical of the 'Toon, rather than Dubya. I suspect he'll have a few choice words about the State Dept, too.

Tenet was the least qualified CIA Director ever. Bush kept him on because of his father's personal ties to Tenet and thanks for naming the CIA HDQTRS after Bush. It was bad judgement to place a guy whose biggest job was supervising a Senate staff as head of a multi-billion dollar agency with tens of thousands of personnel.

Bush needs to appoint someone who has had executive experience, not a bureaucrat.

Tenet wanted to resign before Iraq, but GWB changed his mind.

That story needs to be found...

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in the Senate yet.

I think it will be Rudy. If not, I hope it's Porter Goss.

Rudy is by far my #1 choice.

Fox reported that he wanted to resign before the 9.11 hearings but stayed on to see it through. It was also speculated that because he'd told W that the WMD issues was a "slam dunk", he's lost his credibility.
