I wish I had that much faith in the demo-sociopaths.

But this has to be Bush's call. Bush is cleaning house before the election and before the June 30 hand-over.

Confirmation hearings won't take place until after November.

Tenet is taking the fall. That's how it goes.

Did Bush say WHEN he'd announce Tenets replacement??

What if he doesn't? What if he leaves the "acting" guy in place until after the election so there is no confirmation hearing? What would the demo spin be then?

(Stepping back quietly now and taking off tinfoil hat.)

McCain is too mentally unstable to be director of the CIA. Everyone who knows him has admittedly this off the record. Anyone who has seen hiff off camera would see it immediately.

Are you saying that Bush is the target of that investigation?

I am saying that Bush's inner circle is the target of that investigation. It is well-known.

Are you even hinting at it?

See above.

If so, I'd say you are here to bring down this administration.

Check this out!

What a bunch of hogwash.

And this!

To dump Tenet at this time is an indication of some serious rift.

He was not dumped.

You think Bush would step on his own headlines while he's literally flying to Europe?

You don't know much about timing in political decisions.

Tenet decided to leave for his own reasons, and everyone was surprised.

No, I hope he doesn't. However, I don't trust him or any other Democrat, especially those who worked for the Clintons.

Just a guess that the personal reasons are legal in nature related to the Wilson probe, or related to an internal screw up such as sharing top secrets with Chalabi.

I agree with you both.

This was not a forced resignation? Did you hear Bush -- he didn't have any prepared remarks!

And Tenet will be loyal to Bush.

he should have been fired after 9-11.

Absolutely. That was a massive intelligence failure.

do they usually come from the ranks of the CIA itself, or from outside places..?

Looks like a mixed bag:

-actually, I don't think North would be welcome in hell, only my opinion, but he couldn't ever get through a Senate confirmation hearing, on that you are correct.

How did Tenet try to "stick it" to Bush for the yellowcake thing?

Geeez.. Where do people think all those leaks came from? Why don't you go back to those threads and see who was getting blamed at the time.

And where, exactly, do you think the Plame investigation is leading?

I have no idea where it's leading. I am not privy to the highly secretive grand jury proceedings. It may very well be leading nowhere but it was certainly obvious to Tenet where, if anywhere, it would lead when it was called for by Tenet.
