are you on Michael Moore's payroll? If you aren't, you should be. He loves this. If word of boycott spreads the networks will have another excuse to give him hours of free commercials.

Precisely. This board is full of Conservatives and Bush voters who want to line up and help Moore make this film the biggest propaganda hit since Triumph of the Will. An organized boycott would simply increase the chatter about his film, that's all.

Now if you really want to hurt the fat bastard, make sure that the Shanghai Triad gets a copy of his film so they can bootleg it to DVD and start distributing it at, say, 25% of ticket price. If you decide to see this film, do not go to the movies to see it. That's putting money in Moore's pocket. Nope, borrow a bootlegged copy from someone else. Whatever you do, do not see it at the movies and do not buy the DVD.

You may be pissed off when you see this tripe, but you'll also be putting money in the Fat Bastard's pocket. Don't.

Now if you want to see well-done propaganda, rent Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will. Follow it up with Olympiade, Riefenstahl's paean to the 1936 Berlin Games. Riefenstahl's films have a consistency that Moore cannot capture, because what Leni is doing is, primarily, recording an event (the 1934 Parteitag Rally in Nuremburg). She builds the propaganda around the event by recording the reactions of enthusiastic SA men. It's a genuinely good film in the service of a monstrous cause, and I recommend it for anyone who wants to understand just how effective good propaganda can be. Also rent Olivier's 1944 production of Henry V; Shakespeare placed at the service of the Allied Cause.

For anyone who wants to see bad propaganda, borrow any Moore film, of course. Or rent Aleksandr Nevsky, a ponderous Stalinoid epic in which Nevsky repels the Teutonic Invasion at the Battle of Lake Peipus while looking remarkablly like Uncle Joe.

Remember, NO MONEY FOR FAT BASTARD!

Be Seeing You,

Chris

p.s.: Truth in Advertising: while I am fat, I am not a bastard.
