Toddler Weighs 55 Pounds At 15 Months

A 15-month-old child in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia weighs 55 pounds and is gaining nearly 5 pounds a month, according to a Local 6 News report.
Luka Meliksishvili has been rapidly gaining weight since his birth, according to his parents. He already carries the weight of a 6-year-old child, Local 6 News reported Monday night.
Luka's mother, Eka Meliksishvili, said doctors in Tbilisi have examined her son and advised her not to be too concerned. They said Luka may be able to shed his excess weight as he grows older.

The poor little kid.
FoxNews showed a brief video. The mother was shoveling food into the kid's mouth. Unless the child has some medical condition (and the reports said he didn't), then the problem is 'enabler' parent(s).

Well, we moved from Indian Country to New Yawk in '67. The culture shock was plenty; but the pizza and pastrami were plenty good. I miss those, too - but not much else.

First thing that comes to mind is
Prader-Willi Syndrome. Children with this have no hunger control...in the sense that they always feel ravenously hungry. Early on, this comes as a relief, since for the first few months, they tend to have a very weak suckling reflex.
Until the 1980s, almost none of the children with this lived through their pre-teens much less through their delayed puberty.
