My younger brother is a sergeant first class who has just completed his third or fourth tour. From what I gather from him, Novak is right on point. We have a mess not just in Iraq, but also in Afghanistan. The Bush Regime is more interested in doing things for political gains than for any other reason. Troops are discouraged. They can see the politics.

Amazing. My wife and I work with the troops and their families deploying and coming back through Ft. Lewis and they don't seem to have the same opinion...they only disappointment we're heard was about the attitude of the press and the liberals in Congress.

Now isn't that strange?

That's interesting, because I'm hearing the exact opposite from the folks I know who have come back recently. Go figure. Incidently, they don't use the term "Bush Regime" either.

Your brother, if he told you that, is either lying or a Democrat.

First of all I am not going to let you get away calling this administration a regime. Now tell me, what unit is your brother in and where was his tours of duty?

Exactly what has the administration been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan for political gain? Show me the "gains" they have attained politically speaking?

Novak has to ingatiate himself to his liberal employers at CNN. He sold his soul long ago.

This sounds about right for Afganistan. The truth hurts.

You're not much of a brother if you don't even know if he's on his "3rd or fourth tour."

Bush Regime, right out of the Kerry talking points, eh?

My brother in law returned from his second stint in Afghanistan and he said morale was high, and while the work was difficult, he knew excellent progress was being made and terrorists were being culled at a remarkable rate.
Further, I'm in contact daily with a friend who is in Afghanistan and he is anything but the way Novak describes.  In fact, his chief complaint is lack of internet access.

My opinion:  Novak is throwing another tantrum because he's no longer a WH insider.  Just a CNN dilettante.

Rush re-ran the “Jeff from Moreland, OK” interview today. I was so glad to hear it again…I missed some the first time around. Part of what “Jeff” said came to my mind when I read your comment. He said being back in this country scares him a lot more than his tours in Iraq…why? Because of the way the press is painting our mission (and the part the military is playing it). He said the way the press makes it sound, EVERYTHING is going wrong…and that’s just the opposite of what’s actually happening. If Iraq (and Afghanistan) ARE a lost cause, it will be because of the liberal press, leftist politicians (Kennedy, Pelosi, Clinton et al), and bleeding heart liberals who are too stupid to understand that THEY are going to lose their freedoms (just like the rest of us) when this country falls.

I have a great friend serving as an Officer in Afghanistan this very minute. He tells a far different story. The troops understand, and BELIEVE in the MISSION!

I guess it just depends on who your relatives are. It just so happens that my family member is "currently" in Afghanistan and says that the people in that country thank him every day for the US help in fighting the terrorists. They are EAGER to have a country that is free of opressive regimes. The troops are not discouraged and the only politics that scare them are Liberal politicians who are trying to encourage the enemy.

You are flat out wrong.

"The Bush Regime is more interested in doing things for political gains..."

No sober, rational adult would label the Bush Administration as a "regime," and to do so reveals either that you are uneducated, unsober, or a partisan activist.

Well, I'm sure the Bush administration may very well be all for political gain. You parrot the democrat talking points very nicely.

Wrong, they can see people like you who don't understand the threats to the US.
Your brother on the other hand is not afraid to defend Freedom.

PS Your idol, Hanoi Kerry, supports your opinion.

The Bush Regime

You sound like Kerry with his idiotic "regime change" quip. A regime is a constitutional arrangement, and the connotation is an illegitimate one. The "Bush Administration" is the appropriate term. Both Iraq and Afghanistan are slowly changing for the better, and history will fully vindicate the actions of our courageous and righteous president.

First of all, I object to the use of "Bush Regime" also.

Anyone using such a term shows himself for what he is. We know exactly what your agenda is.

Secondly, I have heard much different assessments of Afghanistan, just like the others have responded with to you.

Finally, so what if Bush is doing things for political gains?

President Bush knows that if he doesn't win re-election, everything that has been done in the WOT will have been wasted.

So it suits me just fine to see somethings being done to keep things stable right now.

We need President Bush to win, so we don't all die with a knife to our throats.

Got it?
