I'm aware of that and NO dishonor meant to women OR the Israelis.

Service of some sort in mandatory for Israelis.

At the moment, though, their standards are also much higher than ours are, and i doubt they are indulging in all of this PC crap.

They ae surrounded by Bad Guys and simply can't afford it!

Yours would be a difficult situation wer this to come about.

I agree. Tyranny.

My point has always been, let them. But they have to be able to pass the same rigors and tests as men. If they can't hack it, they can't do it. How would you like to be an injured 240lb man whose only hope of salvation is being carried out by a 145lb woman? And men are naturally going to be protective of women in combat situations. They need to be put in all female units.

Equality at work.

And where do all these men come from? And what happens if there is no from to come?

People have the right to be as stupid as
they chose to be. To have an enemy
dishonor and abuse your women has
traditionally been a mark of defeat.
The effort to subvert our society
extends to the military, a most
important target in the general
scheme of things.

Tiamat,
Yes, ten. And I am so very grateful to have them.

And I will say this as kindly as I can, and wish you well. But the viewpoints that you are espousing in your previous posts are,IMHO, part of the problem.

Why would you want to degrade the fighting ability of our armed forces, when those forces insure your security and liberty?

Mother, you and I have no problem.

This is America!

We get to disagree!

That's part of what makes this country what it is!

I wish you well, too!

Deal there is, we've already GOT the situation.

How do we UNDO it?

I certainly don't want to see my daughter drafted, but if she decided to enlist, I would bless her, tell her to do her best, and then I would pray for her constantly.

Opening the combat arms to women, was/is, as many of us called it, an attempt by enemies of US military power to curb greatly the willingness of the American people to use that power.

Should the nation be required to raise great armies via a draft then women will now also be subject to the draft. Since the US Army is now an equal opportunity employer, so faced with the choice of sending the 'girl next door' out to fight and die or retreating to our own shores the chances for choosing retreat are greatly improved by the presence of young women in combats units.

That kind of nation would send it women out in great numbers to fight and die?

I have a daughter too. I would not want her drafted. I have two sons and I know that my daughter is not as strong or as fast as her brothers. If women could compete on equal standing with men why don't they play side by side on the basketball courts and football fields?

Women are not inferior...we are different.

It is ridiculous to think that a 145lb woman can carry my husband out of a burning building or fight in hand to hand combat with the enemy. For political correctness we are ending up with women in dangerous places putting the lives of others on the line.

Why would you imply that my daughter, an Airman, would degrade the fighting ability of our armed forces? She is a member of our armed forces, and they are kicking terrorist *ss all over this planet.

The American Military Machine is the most awesome fighting machine ever assembled on the face of the planet. Period. In this time of war, I salute ALL of them.

True.

However your daughter COULD be a paramedic, could operate the radio, could drive the fire-truck.

I am NOT NOT NOT saying women should do each and everything a man does.

I am saying that there are places where women could excel without lowering standards in many many fields.

There needs to be a balance. To say "No women, in any traditionally male role EVER" is simply insane and unrealistic.

The guy used a portion of Deuteronomy that says women wearing mens clothing is an abomination to justify his stance that women shouldn't be in combat. One only wonders what he would think about a woman warrior in a dress. If one starts with a preconceived position one can usually find justification.

I hate it when these discussion devolve into whether there should be women in combat. The larger issue of whether our men have equality is what is important.

If an equally equipped and peopled force, one of entirely of men and one entirely of women, were to meet in armed conflict, who would win?

You can dodge and weave, but you have to acknowledge the male force would win. That being so, the only possible conclusion that can be reached is that however many woman are put into combat, the force will be degraded to that extent.

As for your daughter, if she is exposed to combat, she is not kicking ass anywhere. The men in her unit are.

If she is in a protected administrative job, releasing more men to fight, then bless her. But she, in that kind of job, is "kicking ass" only indirectly, as appropriate.

Get me?
