Americans put cash above environment

More Americans prefer healthy wallets over protecting the environment, according to a poll by the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy.

Of 1,000 persons polled, 54 percent said that protecting the environment is important, but it is more important to keep the economy growing.

It is not monolithic, and there are variations and exceptions, but generally they are yet another group of intellectually and morally lazy, "idealistic" "activists," enjoying the unaccustomed feel of power and authority and determined to pave the Road to Hell in order to fulfill their utopian vision. Some are sadistic bullies who want to run something and don't care--in fact enjoy--the suffering that they cause to their fellow human beings.

When the "environmentalists" decide that your home, for example, violates "the public viewshed," if you are an average American you will be de facto defenseless. They will be armed with wealth and power beyond your imagination. Corrupt politicians will support them--and vice versa. They will destroy your home and seize what's left. It will be a matter of strategy; if one thing doesn't work, they'll think of something else. Their lawyers will be brilliant, their strategy flawless, their logic exquisite. Everyone will understand the wisdom of throwing you and your family out on the street and confiscating your property so that the "environmentalists" will have a pleasant view as they drive by. For you, the American Dream will have become a nightmare.

These 'enviromental groups' - PETA, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Earth First, etc - are not environmental groups. They are communist and they are hypocrites in their concrete jungles.

The term is 'watermelons', they're green on the outside and red in the middle.

This touches on the truth.The real motivation of enviro-nuts is a vitriolic hatred of Man.They would stop at nothing to see government become worse than Nazi Germany,Soviet Russia,PRC,complete with death camps for the masses.To the envirnmental movement,the only evil in the world is the presence of Mankind.

I think the biggest Bush bashers are teachers! One said Bush is destroying our environment. I said "Really?" I thought the "Healthy Forest Act" was sensible. Get rid of dead and diease trees to avoid out of control wild fires. How much environmental damage did those Southern California wild fires cost? No vegetation to protect the top soil or water tables. He didn't have a good answer but to say Califorians can pay for the damages. He thinks Republican's are not good stewardship of the forest. He also blames Bush for underfunding "No Child Left Behind Act" which was passed in the Senate like 85 to 10...but that's another story.

I love pristine wilderness. I also love human habitation. When I see homes at beaches, in canyons, on rivers, streams, and islands, it makes me happy. Evidently, "environmentalists"--may of them anyway--hate to see homes in such places.

I relish driving away the greenies who knock on my door. Just last month one started in on the logging industry rules here in Oregon. After posing 2 points -

A)They grow back. and

B)How does the big evil capitalist timber industry expect to stay in business after cutting down all of their product?

I see you've gotten a good understanding of the environmentalists anti-human agenda. They continue to work through our government agencies to implement the 'wildlands project'. The current effort here in Pennsylvania is through the 'Heritage Regions' program rather than viewsheds. They are out constantly telling all the rural municipalities not to worry about businesses closing or property tax losses, because they are going to become 'tourist destinations' as more and more land is protected and biodiversity returns. My question to them is: How can ALL rural communities thrive simply on tourism - where will all the new tourists come from? That gets a "deer-in-the-headlights" look...

I found one black teacher with a picture of President Bush on her wall without darts! Some Republican teachers do exist but they have to be quiet. I'm a non-union substitute and I can say what I want.
