Can you imagine the outrage of the leftist's had 41 gone after Saddam then? He has no UN mandate doncha know!
Otherwise, bookmarked and grateful for all of this!
I have to agree with you there, but...I'm not sure opposition party members and supporters would care, and I'm certain they would ignore the necessity of "going it alone" had removing Saddam been an objectivein 1991 instead of 1998. More importantly, however, I think that if it came out, then that crucial middle 15% of the population would look at it and say, if it was ok to go it alone and remove Saddam in 03, then it would have been just as ok, and far better to have done it in 91. Sort of a ends justifies the means. In any case, the one thing that's really shined through all the BS in the 911 commission hearings is that every administration official has worked hard to cover their ass-ets. That's the over-riding theme. Maybe if the hearings had been held a yr after 911 instead of 3 yrs, a more honest and objective tone would dominate. Instead, we're back to the partisanship, reputation, career, booksales, and legacy first...American interests second. That's why I mentioned in the post that it's up to the mass media (don't hold your breath) and individuals to seek out the truth because there's very little desire to leave no stone unturned in DC. Nah, in an election year like this, and nearing the end of the longest election campaign fight in American history, no one's gonna want to stand up and say...I wish I'd have done this or that; not Cheny, Powell, Clinton, Gore, or Bush Sr. It's up to Americans.
