Our kids (living elsewhere) and us both have AOL. Both of us have had our main password only accounts changed to no password needed and our mail controls changed to access by all (which freaked us out). You are not the only one with AOL issues here.
REPORT IT to AOL.
You can go in and change that. I would do so (change the settings back) and also change your password.
