San Francisco police arrest 25 at biotechnology meeting protest
By Bloomberg News
Tuesday, June 8, 2004

San Francisco police arrested 25 protesters who blocked traffic in front of a biotechnology conference where hundreds of demonstrators gathered to try shut down a convention of scientists, executives and politicians.

The demonstrators were arrested at 7:10 a.m. local time for blocking traffic, said Sergeant Neville Gittens. A group called Reclaim the Commons wanted to shut down the conference to protest the proliferation of genetically modified foods developed by biotechnology corporations.
