As a New Zealander, I remember the Rainbow Warrior affair well, although it was an inept act of sabotage by the French Intelligence Service (caught by the NZ Police soon after), not the GIGN, who I have respect for.

Okay, I understand now. Can you imagine what they would have sent in if the Rainbow Warrior had been armed?

CH-46 is a Boeing product. Like I said there are many FReepers who are better than myself at answering that kind of question.

I feel sorry for the terrorists who get captured. They'll all probably have to wear women's undies on their heads for days.

What a horrible cruel evil mean thing to say. (don't collect $200 - go straight to court-martial!)

..the GIGN, who I have respect for.

I was in France when the GIGN dispatched the Islamic wacko hijackers in Marseilles.

GIGN at Marseilles Airport

My ship had a port visit in Cannes for the Christmas holidays. Several shipmates and I were the houseguests of a French family (Jewish, fwiw). When we saw the reports of the hijackers landing in Marseilles, our host assured us that " the hijackers won't get away with this, the GIGN will kill them".

Turns out she was correct. The hijackers, btw, wanted to crash the airliner in Paris, they speculate the Eiffel Tower was the target. Hmmmm... Imagine that, Islamic terrorists using planes as weapons, way back in 1994.

When it comes to terrorism, the French are bi-polar hypocrits. They are completely blase, permismissive abettors about terrorism in outher countries; however, they are 1000% ruthless when it comes to terrorism interefering with their own national interests.

The GIGN and the FFL have been routinely been used to protect French (and only French) interests world-wide from terrorism.

The Rainbow Warrior was "scuttled" (albiet sloppily) because Green Peace interfered with the French interest to remain an independant nuclear weapon-producing nation. With GP meddling with French nuclear testing in the Pacific, they couldn't maintain that independant status and *gasp* may have to rely on another nation for nuclear testing data. If another country attempted the same act of overt sabatoge, they would be promptly scolded by the French in the UN Security Council.

Anytime someone, anyone, anywhere, kills Islamic wackos, it's a good day.

"Don't forget the french. Remember their little commando raid on a Green Peace ship...one unarmed environmental wasko dead, one unarmed ship sunk.".. Finally, a French victory!

"I would if possible like feedback on my website"

I like your site - especially the straight forward declarations in the disclaimer. I also appreciate the fact that you keep the navigation easy by keeping the site links in the left-hand column on each page. I agree that ignorance breeds fear and I'm glad that someone with your technical and personal expertise is hosting such a site. Good luck with your endeavour.

Our freeper cruisers just returned yesterday. A common thread at dinner time during the voyage was the appalling anti-American propaganda spewed out 24/7 by International CNN on the TVs in our cabins.

Unfortunately, this is the only news source on all cruise lines.

Most of us were constantly turning this channel off as we couldn't stomach the blatant hate-America bias. Folks, it is sickening. No wonder a good portion of the world hates the United States. The owners and operators of CNN are treasonous, traiterous scum of the earth. They are fifth columnists and should be regarded as such for our own safety and that of our children.

If you think domestic CNN is bad, you should view its international programing. Your hair would stand on end. CNN is crafty enough to tone things down quite a bit for domestic viewing.

I'll be posting more about this on the apres-cruise thread when unpacked. I'm sure other freeper voyagers will also.

Welcome home, and thanks for a fascinating, firsthand observation. Those thoughts do need a thread of their own. Please ping me when its up.

I wonder if the rhetoric has gotten worse since Turner lost control?

Good points. I wonder why the French/Iraqi oil ties aren't being played up more, especially in light of Monsieur Kerry's international connections.

It's actually a KV107. The airframe pictured is a Japanese license-built (Kawasaki) version. The markings are Saudi Ministry of Interior.

Thank you. I would like for someone to go talk to the officer in charge of that deployment...it is unusual for SEALS to do something stupid.

BTW, our troops came under intense fighting today from Sadr's renegade troops..our guys said it was the most intense so far. WAY TO GO, GENERAL!! HOW 'BOUT THAT TRUCE, HUH? JUST NAIL THEM AND GET THIS FIASCO OVER WITH. I think I'm going to throw up. If we lose ONE more guy to this crap...
