I guess all those no-tolerance policies only apply to really dangerous things like aspirin and plastic forks.
It's absolutely rediculuous. It even sounds like she wants to learn; schools don't get that often so they shouldn't tell her to go home. Also, the Zero Tolerance policy is gay. Shouldn't exist.
This is crazy! The attacker is gettiun g treated like a victim. Where is the outrage. Where is Mike Rosen?!
now if he pulled out a bible instead of a knife!
Poor kid. There is simply no excuse for this.
so the kid will be further punished by having to go to summer school
Ping!
The principal has now admitted her staff did not call police, did not interview potential witnesses, and did not conduct a proper investigation.
Only the bizarro world of education tolerates this level of willful disregard.
An unrelated thought: does the administration at M.L. King Middle School punish anyone who plagiarizes?
My first reaction was this is unbelievable. Then I realized, sadly, that it isn't.
The name "Martin Luther King" applied to a street or a school is a thinly veiled warning that non-minority individuals are not tolerated there.
"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
Done. Dream realized.
I'm glad she does "real good in school" and I hope she gets to go back and "take her education."
From her quotes, it seems she has a way to go in that regard.
(But that does not mean she should be set on fire.)

Years ago, when my daughter was in middle school a boy reached under her skirt as she was stepping onto the bus. He grabbed a handful of her crotch.
She decked him.
I was called to the school and informed she was banned from the bus and might be suspended for the assault. When I arrived at the office there was a good sized kid setting near the door - bloody nose and a good shiner starting. Jennifer looked very mad. I asked her what happened and she told me, the boy confirmed it.
As the vice principal approached I asked to see the police report.
Well, I dont think we have to bring the police into this.
I went off. I told him I would call the police myself. He couldnt understand, thinking I wanted to report that Jennifer assaulted the boy.
You mean this punk sexually assaulted my daughter and you condone it? Ill be damned! Sir, there is never any excuse for physical violence. After we had a not-so civil talk, it was decided not to suspend her from the bus or school. I figured the punk having his butt beat - painfully - by a girl was enough. I told her there in the office that if it happened again I would expect him to be hospitalized.
Looks like that girl is going to own that school before this is over.
What does she need summer school for? This only happened last week, and she ought to be back in school by tomorrow, unless this interim principal wants to get whacked with a huge personal lawsuit, in addition to the lawsuit that the school district is obviously already facing.
As long as parents continue to take this kind of poo-hockey, they'll keep dishing it out. Pulling the kids out of this circus we call public education is the only way. Kinda reminds me of someone standing around when being beaten syaing; "Thank you, Sir!. May I have another?".
Jeesh, move along, for this kind of stuff has been going on in our country since "The Beaver" was prominent in TV land.
Why I remember when I was in the sixth grade I was cheated out of losing a marble tournament because my foe and the referee were friends and in my frustration brought up the fact that they were cheating. I was sent home for it.
I shouldn't have disputed the decision of the referee.
It's basically the same thing isn't it? /sarcasm
