(2004-05-24) -- U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy today suffered minor injuries when the mountain bike he was riding slid on a patch of loose stones and crashed near the end of a 17-mile ride at the Kennedy family compound in Massachusetts.
When told about the incident, Senate colleague John Forbes Kerry expressed his "grief and prayers for Teddy, his bicycle and the entire eastern seaboard."
"His injuries remind me of my own three Purple Hearts earned during the Vietnam war," Mr. Kerry added.
One heavy duty bike there.
Forgive me, but as a former cycle-commuter I say there's no way The Hero of Chappaquiddick could ride 17 miles. Unless they were all downhill.
HAS HE STOPPED ROLLING????
Revised title - "Mountain Hurt in Teddy Kennedy Bike Spill"
I felt the thud... and I'm way down in Maryland!
1,2,3...do I have it right? Three politicians take spills off their bikes within a few weeks. I am glad they are paid to run the country instead of riding their bikes.
In other news, Jabba the Hutt sustained injuries while competing in a X-treme skateboarding competition.
Com-on now, we all know this article is not true. There is not way Mr. Lard for brains (a.k.a. Mr. Booze for Blood)could ride a bike even if it is down hill.
Could we please have a ban on Teddy biking attire visuals?
As Jabba was carried off on several stretchers, he was heard to say, "damn sonofabitch secret service agent cut me off--I never fall!"
Let me know when the POS is dead.
Must have been 8.3 on the Richter scale..
No way he could go that long without a drink.
Ohhhh.............I hope the mountain is OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, so THAT was the earthquake that everyone felt.
Don't you mean - A SUB (Sport Utility Bicycle) was responsible for injuries to Ted "The Toad" Kennedy, when it went out of control and crashed into a tree. A hospital spokesman said that as soon as they get all the spokes out, he will be released for duty at the capital as there are some important liberal pork bills due for a vote.
