Albright is the poster child of state department failure and incompetence. The state department needs a purging on the level of the formation of homeland security.

If anything, the new Iraqi statelite US embasies should ONLY HAVE BUSH APPOINTEES Anyone who has been at the state department more than 3 years has to be left out of the loop. (especially powel)

Bill Clinton got Bill Clinton elected twice.

Clinton got 43% in 92 same as Mondale Carter and Ducakis in their landslide defeats

Clinton lost the congress for the dems in 94

Running as an incumbent in Peace Time with a booming economy and a fawning media against sad sack Dole and nut case Perot he couldn't get 50% in 96

"Real people aren't paying attention right now. This speech was for the folks in the political class, here and abroad.

Seriously, nobody was hanging on the relative success of this speech but the ruling and media elites and a few of us groupies.

The election begins after Labor Day."

THANK YOU so much for saying that. I needed a dose after the Biden "sky is falling" speech. You're 100% right.

Morris got Clinton elected twice. Morris knows about motivating voters to a candidate. Don't sell him short.

If you've ever seen the percentages of people who vote, you'd know that the spinmeisters like Morris don't know diddly about motivating their voters to vote for candidates- what they know is how to keep the other guy's voters from being motivated enough to vote at all.

I agree I found it amazing the media chatty cathys failed to pick up what was the central theme of the speech.

Iraq ruled by Iraqis, without a UN side-structure or peacekeeping force.

I'm taking bets that Tom Friedman will be the first to point this out.

Woodward on LKL just said he doesn't think Iraq was a political decision but rather the president thought it was important to the war on terror and thought Iraq was a threat.

Woodward further says he doesn't buy Former Secy. O'Neill's assertion that Iraq was always on the table (in terms of going to war with them).

Woodward says he looked at all the intel and notes and he does not believe that Pres. Bush was just looking for a reason to go to war with Iraq.

Did OK. Should be enough to halt the bleeding from the right side of the aisle, not enough to keep the left from yapping.

Nothing new for an informed citizen, for the uniformed a plethora of information, perhaps too much.

I think the plan is to continue to bypass the press and go to the people on Iraq right up until turnover time. Good idea, I'm sick of Lugar, Hagel, Biden and the 93% of the media that is not self identified as conservative.

As soon as someone, anyone, is named, the leftist press will teach the American public all about Diem...

Ah, but then they will also have to point at Brahimi, wont they?

Help me out somebody, did she just agree with her removal?

I certainly think she did. I guess she knows her career is over anyway, so it's better to claim complete ignorance than to admit knowing something fishy was going on, and doing nothing about it.

***Well, Joe Biden is officially "disppointed" on MSNBC; didn't hear anything new.***

Biden started out by saying that the President had mislead the American people. At that point I yelled, "You America hating traitor,'" and I turned off the TV.

Naw, I dont worry about them. It is the accusations that make me sick. Even the use of the name is a pain.

What happened to "moderate', which meant strong on defense, slightly liberal socially.

I think the term is used more to define a Jewish conservative and that is not a good thing.
