"Completing the five steps to Iraqi elected self-government will not be easy," Bush said. "There is likely to be violence before the transfer of sovereignty and after the transfer of sovereignty."

He talked of the assassination this month of the president of the Iraqi Governing Council, Izzadine Saleem, and the beheading of American civilian Nicholas Berg. But he continued to express his resolve, saying, "No power of the enemy will stop Iraq's progress."

He said coalition forces and Iraqis have the same enemies -- terrorists, illegal militia and loyalists of Saddam Hussein. "Working as allies, we will defend Iraq and defeat these enemies," he said.

Rep Duncan Hunter just referred to Biden as Joe "The world is going to hell in a hen basket" Biden

I always thought that it was hand basket.

Either way, the saying makes no sense to me.

The detail that the rats want is when do we get out, and that is not yet known. They will not be satisfied until they hear the words.

As to the next series of speeches, they will be while he is on the stump and will not be like this one, as I understand.

The details will be the names of the new Iraqi govt.

Also, after the govt is formed, I expect a request to pull back from some areas and to reduce our foot print. This is something we have been expecting, IMO and were in the process of getting ready to do before the recent troubles.

I have been saying, that IMO by Sept, there will be less troops and a much better situation going into the election.

I see no reason to feel any differently and the speech seemed to be leading that way.

But the words have not yet been said, nor will they be until we have a period of peace to put in the trust bank.

Dammit, I agree with him. What is with Hagel, anyway? When did GW ever piss on his cornflakes. McCain I can understand. His ego is as big as a house. Lugar is another pompous ass who is undermining the President.

Don't these assweasels know that there is an election on?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

That is VERY good news for the US, but horrible news to European nations hoping to gain Iraqi contracts by putting pressure on the US

And the Iraqis haven't forgotten about that Oil for Food program or how the UN and Europe screwed them

Duncan Hunter is one of our San Diego Congressmen.
He was a Ranger in View Nam. And his son is in the
Marines in Iraq

Nothing is ever enough for Fred Barnes. Haven't you recognized this refrain of his?

"Well, It didn't go far enough on security in Iraq.".....Honestly, listening to Fred Barnes is like listening to what Bill Kristol says, about 6 week later!
