Speech begins at 8:00 P.M. EDT; carried on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and CSPAN.
I have been waiting 45 minutes for my husband to come pick me up so we can attend a graduation open house. I am aggravated that he is running late, and hence WE might be late getting home. And I am having to sit around in a dress and pantyhose, which I do NOT like. I am NOT in a good mood.

Roundtable on Brit saying that President Bush will announce the building of a new prison and tearing down Abu Ghraib.
Ceci Connelly is convinced they never wanted to do that but looked at polling data and "came around" to that decision.
I heartily disagree. It is clear they needed a ready place to house prisoners so used that existing facility, even with its unsavory past, but I had the idea they in fact DID want to go this route eventually, and now they will proceed.
I bet it's a humdinger. I think President Bush is going to make some news tonight, news that the MSM cannot ignore, and news that will make them sorry they did not carry the speech.

Lawzy...they've already made up their minds it's a loser of a war and he's a loser of a president! I don't give a flying fig about what the press pontificates about Bush's speech, which is why I fully intend to watch it for myself. (You can bet a hefty sum that the spin doctors will be bloviating in such a fashion as to make you wonder if we all listened to the same broadcast!)

a, sorry, i'm like a lurker but I don't post here cause I think you need your space anyhow well I was kinda like wondering if you knew what time bush would be giving his speech. also, you said it would be on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, CSPAN. Like, do you know what channel number that would be. and is it up or down from mtv. my roommate threw the remote and like it barely works now so it like only goes up or down. oh will he like be talking about iraq and stuff cause i was planning to vote this time and want to know about that.

Bush could announce the war was over, we caught OBL and found 5 trillion dollars in gold .... and the press would still excoriate him.
Fortunately, the people will see thru this if they listen to Bush....... He usually comes off pretty good on his speaches.
CBS (for what it's worth) implies the speech will mostly
contain the same message as usual. If that's the case what
he says in the next half dozen addresses to the nation will be ignored by the public.
He has to change the tide tonight or pack his bags. This is his big opportunity.

He should not wear make up to cover his scrapes. They're symbolic of his battle scars he's getting from the media these days. And of course, the networks will not only allow rebuttal of the speech they didn't cover, they'll trot out all the usual suspects to discredit him further. In addition they'll probably have the "grieving relatives" from the "shoot-em up" wedding in the desert available via satellite.
