Believers in the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence:
Where is Terri's independence?
I'm talking about her independence to learn and to be free from her lonely room.
To kick off Terri's May-June 2004 Dailies, our first article is by Deroy Murdock of Scripps Howard News Service.
Let Terri Schiavo's Parents Restore Her Dignity. May 22, 2004

But I meant that in a good way :)
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. My posting will probably be sporadic as I can't post at work and can post only at home ... on my husband's laptop ... if he remembers to bring it home ... or if we remember to take it to the farm on the weekends, and we don't have too much to do... But I'm glad to finally be here, even though it's taken four years! Terri's situation has motivated me to jump in.
Bump for the Life of Terri!

{{Terri and the Schindlers}} ..You're always in our prayers.
BTTT for continued prayer ...
Been meaning to welcome you! You sound a bit like me, lurked for years, and Terri's case was the first that prompted me to take the leap into posting. I haven't looked back.
Don't worry, many of us are sporadic posters, and can only check in at certain times of day or even certain days. It means you have a life beyond FR, which is good, because there is a whole world out there that we are called to be an active part of!
BIG BUMP FOR CONTINUED PRAYER!
It was in the physical paper. The tape they were trying to incriminate Terri's dad with was already on the record and NOT A TAPE MADE BY MR. SCHINDLER.
What a bunch of goofs Michael has now for attorneys. Bushnell and Swope masterminded a big nothing. You'd think one of them would have viewed the videotape before submitting it into evidence. STUPID LAWYERS who want to kill a lovely woman. Their credibility is TANKING... I thought Swope was strange at the hearing but to TRY TO SET UP AND IMPLY that Mr. Schindler was guilty of anything - how STUPID and LOW can they go? MICHAEL LOST. The Schindlers won.
No matter, we are still on board to DEFEAT JUDGE GREER. Visit www.jangovan.com/. Greer's worn out his welcome and he may give the Schindler's little victories but he's anxiously awaiting the moment he can order that tube pulled.
DEFEAT GREER PING LIST freepmail "floriduh voter"
We are going to do our best to DEFEAT GEORGE GREER. Visit www.jangovan.com/. Talk about enthusiasm for justice, compassion and as you can tell by his writings on his web site, what an articulate candidate for the Sixth Circuit. I have met Candidate Govan. I was impressed by his candor and his desire to repair the judicial architecture here. Here's a passionate candidate willing to put his private practice aside for public service.
Meanwhile, J. Greer is concerned about his 100K pension that he will not receive if he loses. IT WILL BE A BITTER CAMPAIGN. The mud slinging is coming from Greer's friends in the GOP hierachy, which is seriously flawed thanks to Greer, Sheriff Rice and SAO Bernie McCabe.
Cantero is a good man.
Govan would be a great improvement.
Actually, Justice Cantero was appointed in 2002, and Justice Bell (the most recent appointee) took office very early in 2003. Both were a part of the court on 8/22/03, which unanimously denied the Schindlers Petition for Review of the 2nd District Court of Appeal's 6/6/03 and 7/9/03 orders. You can read that order here. I guess it depends on what happens with the current (Schiavo v. Bush constitutional) case in front of them, but if that case isn't heard and resolved prior to the retention election, I'm going to have a hard time voting to retain either one of them.
Now, that might be irrational and unfair on my part, and both Justices Cantero and Bell may have otherwise worthy records...but, for me, this is the case that counts to show me what they're made of. I'd feel differently about them if they had broken with the majority in the 2003 appeal and at least filed a dissent. The outcome would have been the same, of course, but they would have gone on record as disagreeing with this horrible action.

hi, fv -- bump for Terri -- thanks for that info. I'm sorry we can't look that article up. Maybe I'll just ask them to put it online, save us all some trouble! I hope to check back later to catch up.
Hi, {{{ Chocolate Rose }}} !
lol, nanette -- your comment just struck me funny. It is good to have you here -- welcome!
thanks for finding and posting that info. it makes a difference, all right.
Amen, Amen. Joining you and others in prayers for Terri and her family - - always.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE CATS, EXCUSE THIS BREAKING NEWS. Terri loved cats.
I have a stray cat on my back porch who's going to the vet tomorrow for a bad eye infection. Wish me luck finding him a new home. The guy who's been feeding him was going to ignore the eye infection. The poor cat can't open his little eyes at all. He's named after the Tampa Bay Bucs when they won the Super Bowl.
I must have been thinking about a District Court appointment ceremony that took place this year. Thanks for clarifying. Retention? I'm having second thoughts now. Sounds like they were in lock step to pull that feeding tube before. Scary that they have Terri's Law right now.
Exactly, FV! I've tried to convince myself that both were "new," and just "feeling their way" at the time they participated in that decision (to turn down the Schindlers' appeal in 2003), but--dang it!--Cantero had been on the court for over a year, and Bell for 7 months.
I have zero confidence in Terri's chances before the Florida Supreme Court, and it scares me every time I think about it.
It's odd (to me--it's probably perfectly normal in the course of things) that the only two Supreme Court justices who are facing a retention vote this year are the two Jeb Bush appointees. Ordinarily, that would be a "no brainer" for me at the voting booth in November--pull that lever to RETAIN! But, as I said, I feel enormously let down by Cantero's and Bell's position on the case before. I mean (and I know I'm babbling), couldn't they have found ANY grounds for a dissent??? Okay, I know it wouldn't have changed anything, it's a majority decision. But still--it would have sent a message that I would have found encouraging.
I swear, it's gotten to the point that I'm not happy with any judge, at any level of the court system, anymore.
