The fact is the Euros and Brits who hate America and Bush most likely hated America and whoever was the pres long before Dubya was elected. I've been reading this Americans-are-just-bunch-of-uncouth-ignorant-barbarians stuff announced from on high by Euros for many years predating Bush II. Bush II just seems to rattle their cages a little more. A more refined Goethe-and-Shakespeare quoting Bush wouldn't get much more traction. They'd just hate us a little less that's all. So my reaction is the same as most Americans when criticized by the pompous types delineated in this article: stuff it!... each and every one you pretentious Euro snob, anti-Semitic nitwits.
I remember that I spent many of my teenage years (that was in the 1990s) wondering a question: why do Europeans used to call America "barbarian and uncultured" and then now call America "imperialist"? after all, the worst imperialist rule we have seen in modern ages was Belgian Congo, and by definition imperialism can only be done when the colonizing power has a superior culture to the colonialized, and you can't have a barbarian imperialist by definition.
