DU response: It's only 1 shell, that's it. And nobody died, so it doesn't count. Oh, and chems aren't WMD's anyway, only nukes are.
You forgot, it's wasn't clearly labeled as "WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION: PROPERTY OF S. HUSSEIN" so it's not at all a WMD.
Best liberal idiocy I've heard yet:
"The shell wasn't marked so it was probably misplaced when Saddam destroyed the other ones."
Yes someone really did say those words to me this morning. I can't decide which disturbs me more, that the person who spouted such drivel is supposed to be en educated thinking member of the electorate, or that there are unmarked sarin warheads lying around.
One of these shells set off in a NY subway would be 9-11 all over again.
I would agree with that assessment. Another thing that has been annoying is the devolution of Civil Defense to FEMA and its hurricane rescue programs.
Sides anyways, it blew up so there aren't any WMD's there now! /brainless logic
That's enough Sarin to make life unpleasant.
Semper Fi
One RAT on yahoo said it was no worse than a can of Raid ...
shove Blix's face into the shell and make him inhale...
There is never just ONE each, artillery shell. These things come in "lots" when they are manufactured.
"DU response: It's only 1 shell, that's it. And nobody died, so it doesn't count."
I'm sad to say that it isn't just the DUmmies who feel this way. There are some of our fellow FReepers who share this same view. I know I've been carrying on a now two day running battle with them on another thread over this issue. It's VERY frustrating.
Makes ya wonder about them. Chems or nukes, doesn't matter after you're dead.
Yeah right I bet the libs do say that, but I found this little bit on the BBC website from '98;
How deadly is it?
Sarin is 20 times as deadly as cyanide. It has been described as the poor man's atomic bomb because of the large numbers of people that can be killed by a small amount. A drop the size of a pin-head is sufficient to kill a person.
I think that would classify it as a WMD. Maybe someone knows the answer to this, How many drops of water are in 1 litre? So you figure times that by 3 and that could be your theoretical bodycount
Other DU spin: since it wasn't fired from an artillery piece, the binary chemicals didn't mix properly and therefore it wasn't a WMD.
It was OLD, so it doesn't count because it was a leftover from the Iran-Iraq war.
It wasn't Saddam's, it was his family's.
Well, that's enough Sarin to kill every nutjob at DU... but if they don't think that's mass destruction...
