EXECUTION: FOUR HELD

Four people have been arrested over the beheading of American Nicholas Berg, Iraq sources say.

The 26-year-old businessman's decapitated body was found 10 days ago in Baghdad.

His killing was shown around the world on the internet.

The poor quality website video showed Berg dressed in orange overalls kneeling on the floor with his hands tied back.

There were five masked men behind him. One read a statement urging Muslims to take revenge over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The masked men then pushed the American contractor to the floor and shouted "God is greatest" above his screams.

His head was cut off with a knife and then held aloft.

The website said the execution was performed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a top ally of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

It is not known if he was among the four people arrested.

Nicholas Berg's headless body was found May 9 in western Baghdad. Three days later, a videotape posted on an al-Qaeda-related website showed him being decapitated by hooded men.

Berg's captors said the killing was to avenge abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison by US forces.

Four people linked to the execution of the American businessman Nicholas Berg, the corpse of whom was discovered ten days ago in Baghdad, are being detained, according to statements to the AFP by a highly-placed Iraqi source.

Asked whether he knew of anyone being arrested in connection to the murder, this source said: "Yes, four people."

The video, showing the the young (redundant) 26-year-old businessman beheaded by a masked man claiming to act in revenge for the abuse suffered by Iraqi detainees, had been widely published (? not an exact translation, but the gist) by an Internet site.

"We have made great progress," this source claimed when speaking of the investigation of the execution.

and I forgot.... held in US custody and visited by the FBI 3 times, just days before his execution. But US representatives cant even get that story straight.

This story doesn't smell right.

And just like

- finding the identities of ALL the 911 hijackers so quickly after the events

-to include passports that survived the crash into the twin towers

- cars in airport parking lots with flight manuals planted (guess that last minute sudying REALLY pays off). forget that all of the flight instructors said these freaks couldnt fly for sh*t, but they could make HUGE passenger jets maneuver like fighter jets

- none of the hijackers names appear on any of the passenger lists of 911

- top FAA officials willfully destroying tapes documenting the 911 flights(tearing them up and putting the pieces in different trash cans)

Yeah theres a LOT I dont buy and this story is one of them Im not buying they've found the actual killers so quickly, unless they already knew who they were.

how can he do that if he was dead prior to this video being made?courtesy of a US helicopter attack
or if hes not dead... he wasnt in that video, cause nobody in the video was limping.

you know, i could make a video tape of ducks swiming in a pond and put Zaraqawi's name on the title credits and have someone speaking bad arabic say that these ducks are swiming in this pond as a result of the abuses in the prison. does that mean he commissioned the making of this video?

Feh. Don't forget that we also have bin Laden, bin al-Shib (sp), and other top Al Qaeda chortling on video about this plan, and that the names of the hijackers we have identified as being on the planes are lionized throughout the jihadi community.

I'm not sure what you mean about no hijacker names being on the flight manifests. They WERE on the manifests--some were ID'd while the planes were still in the air because the flight attendants were able to relay seat numbers to ground crew.

Don't have time to look up the other stuff, but these two (related) items are simply wrong. It was the names (or in some cases, known aliases) on the manifests that made for quick ID.

Somebody in Hamtramck MI go to the guitar store and get the biggest PA system or amplifier you can find...park it in front of the mosques and blast them with the audio track from Mr. Berg's murder complete with "Allah-u-Akbar" every time they bleat the calls to prayer. I will personally contribute to the costs of PA system to any brave souls who will do this.

Sadly some of the worse things in Christian history has been to take care of the islamic problem, and even more sadly brutality seems to be the only thing that works, stopping islams spread cold until the next expansion attempt, after they have had enough time to forget the last beating.

ok then just stick with the two most concrete points
we supposedly killed him prior to this video, and if he didnt die in that attack, he is MISSING A LEG. can you point to ANY of the bad guys in the video that appears to be using a prosthetic?
as for the other items. ive heard several arab linguists on newscasts (both radio and tv) saying that the man speaking does not have a jordanian accent. i dont know this for sure because I DONT SPEAK ARABIC

but I can tell you no one in that video is missing a leg or wearing a wooden one. thank you
