Four arrested over beheading of US businessman in Iraq
BAGHDAD (AFP) - Four people have been arrested over the beheading of US businessman Nicholas Berg, whose killing was shown earlier this month in a video on an Al-Qaeda linked website, a senior Iraqi source said.
Asked if more than one person had been arrested in connection with the killing, the source told AFP: "Yes, four people."
Berg's beheading was shown on a grainy video posted on the Islamic website linked to Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s terror network, days after his body was found in Baghdad on May 8.
"We have made good progress," the source added, referring to the investigation, but declined to give any details on the identity of the four people held in detention.
But it was understood that none of the four included Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, who US authorities believe carried out the killing of the 26-year-old who was in Iraq (news - web sites) to drum up business for his small telecommunications company.
The tape of Berg's killing was entitled "Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi slaughtering an American", referring to the Jordanian militant, linked to Al-Qaeda and wanted over a string of attacks in Iraq.
The video showed Berg's decapitation by one of five masked men. Iraqi sources would not say whether any of the four suspects in custody were among them, or whether the detainees were linked to the case in another way.
Berg's captors said his killing was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners at the hands of US troops, which shocked the world and undermined Washington's claim to be the liberators of Iraq.
The slain Jewish American was buried Friday in a private ceremony near his Pennsylvania home.
His family have blamed his death on US President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s administration.
US Attorney General John Ashcroft (news - web sites) has vowed to keep up the hunt for the killers who made a video.

Great news!!
Essentially: Asked about this, to know if more than one person had been arrested assisting the murderer, the source indicated "yes, four persons."
."Nous avons fait de grands progrès", a affirmé cette source en parlant de l'enquête sur l'exécution.
We've made great progress, confirmed this source, speaking of the inquest on the execution. (remember, these are french reporters)
I doubt these are the guys; they're probably in Syria. (the frenchman didn't say this)
UGH!
All media are enamored with celebrities and fellow media personalities. As if these people are more important than everyone else.
As far as this news story - it should be breaking news on all the networks.
Doesn't appear that Zarqawi was among them. Damn.
Darn. Not surprising, though.
Yeah, al-Zarquai. That's my fear -- that he's not one of 'em.
The "line of the day", award goes to you for this one!
4 people have been arrested in connection with the beheading of an American...
What do CNN and FOX have as their breaking news banner?

This country's priorities are so screwed up it isn't even humorous anymore.
Iraq Arrests 4 Suspected of Role in Berg's Beheading, AFP Says
May 18 (Bloomberg) -- Four people were arrested in connection with the beheading of Nick Berg, an American seeking work in Iraq, Agence France-Presse reported, citing unidentified Iraqi officials.
Further information on the suspects and their links to the case wasn't immediately available.
The title of a videotape showing 26-year-old Berg's death indicates that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian national believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda, is the masked man who carried out the killing. Al-Zarqawi is wanted in connection with the murder of a U.S. aid official in Jordan.
Al-Zarqawi may be tied to the killing yesterday of Izzedine Salim, the leader of the Iraq's interim Governing Council, U.S. Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt said in a televised briefing from Baghgad yesterday.

Here's a better idea... when I was a kid, my brother and I thought it was fun to pick the ticks off our dog and impale them on a thorn bush, watching them slowly wither up and dry out in the sun. This would be a good idea for these guys also. We should impale them rectally and prop them up out in the Iraqi desert sun until they wither up and die.
Point taken
I like your tagline, Saber.
It's a good reminder to folks about what type of person the "Prophet" really was.
Let's see some faces!

Great graphic... but why did you leave out CNN? Judy Woodruff or Wolfie boy would fit right in there!
