Bad form answering a question with a question.

Actually it's not. It's a form of debate. A much older form than 'Well the Bush administration said so, so there'. But to answer your question you better check with Rummy

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said careful tests were needed to confirm whether an artillery shell used in a roadside bomb in Iraq contained sarin nerve gas. Rumsfeld noted that the field test that detected the release of sarin "is not perfect".

Of course he would know this from all the false positives dating back to April of 2003

I just can't believe the absolute giddiness over one shell that may have had traces of sarin gas dating back ten years. One would think they had found all the WMDs we were told the Hussein regime had

Too bad Saddam didn't cooperate more fully with the UN inspectors...he'd still be in power and you'd be a happier person

Why of course. I see it now. Hussein should cooperate with UN inspectors. But our nation of states should not because we claim national sovereignty as it suits our needs. Of course no other nation can make such a claim can they?

Frankly I could care less if Hussein was in power or not. Of course he was a fruit that kept the Islamonuts down and we can't have that. I hope you enjoy the Islamic theocracy that will eventually rise in Iraq. Of course they'll be much kinder and listen to the concerns of Israel won't they? And of course they won't harbor terrorists bent on destroying God's Chosen People now will they?

You still didn't answer the question. I can only suppose that you don't know the answer. I do know the answer. If you'd like to know, just ask.

By the way, this isn't simply one shell found.

It's another piece of WMD in a long line of WMD evidence and programs. Lots of it is in Kays report but you'll pooh pooh that awya just like you will this.

And one other thing. Answering a question with a question is a form of debate, bad form.

" The Old Media

Is silent."

All 3 networks tonight were concerned with a " bombshell, " but , it wasn't sarin gas in a shell.
It was a memo from White House counsel, Alberto Gonzalez in 2002 advising President Bush that parts of the Geneva Convention were too quaint for our modern times.
Gonzalez thought that Al Queda and the Taliban should be exempt from the provisions requiring that prisoners be supplied with " sports uniforms, commissary privileges and access to chemistry labs."
Imagine that.
Gonzalez stands by the memo and says his recommendations on sporting equipment and gym time only applied to Al Queda and not Iraqis.
Gonzalez basically said the Geneva Convention ties the US's hands, when it comes to questioning al Queda.
After the weeping and wailing by Brokaw and Rather and Jennings, that this showed the new interrogation techniques went right to the top- the networks got around to covering the sarin shell.
After his report, Brian Ross of ABC mumbled this, almost as an afterthought.

The discovery of the sarin shell was especially alarming, said Ross, considering that intel agencies from neighboring countries had warned the US that al Zawahiri was planning a massive attack on the troops at Coalition HQ-using chemical weapons.
This bombshell came 10 minutes into the show, after the obligatory " gay wedding good, us troops bad " pieces on the nightly news.

" "We went to war because Iraq was supposed to be actively producing rounds"

RESPONSE: No we didn't, we were enforcing the U.N. resolution which directed Iraq to disarm.

Thanks for setting Brother4thID at least partially straight. In the President's speech in March 2003, he listed the reasonsssss for going to war, most of which were NOT about WMD. Anyone who talks about "the reason" (singular) was sleeping last spring. Unfortunately, abetted by an ignorant press, that number now includes most Americans.

You still didn't answer the question. I can only suppose that you don't know the answer. I do know the answer. If you'd like to know, just ask.

Thanks but that's okay. You're going to tell me longer than 10 years. But we have the issue of storage as well. Guess these terrorists knew right where the storage facility was, pulled out a degraded shell, and then planted it. Of course here the author states

Since Sarin is slightly heavier than air it tends to drift around the ground for days or weeks (depending on the quantity released) after it was initially deployed. However for the same reason wet weather can get rid of it quickly.

Which begs the question why put it out in the open. Of course it could have been there for years or the terrorists didn't even know it contained sarin, but it makes a better story (and supports any administration 'reasoning') to say otherwise. Wouldn't you agree?

By the way, this isn't simply one shell found. It's another piece of WMD in a long line of WMD evidence and programs. Lots of it is in Kays report but you'll pooh pooh that awya just like you will this

Why of course it isn't!!

Vials: A total of 97 vials-including those with labels consistent with the al Hakam cover stories of single-cell protein and biopesticides, as well as strains that could be used to produce BW agents-were recovered from a scientist's residence.

Lab Equipment From Mosque.

Burned Documents Found at SAAD Center: An exploitation team on a recent mission to the SAAD Center, part of the Baghdad New Nuclear Design Center, found massive looting and the remnants of deliberately destroyed documents. Other documents were left untouched, however, and recovered by the team

Figured I would help out and provide the captions to the pictures I sure you will post. Fresh from the CIA's website. Of course burned documents, 97 vials, and some assumptions go a long way in proving the existence of materials to produce '25,000 liters of anthrax...38,000 liters of botulinum toxin...500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent, and 29,984 of these prohibited munitions'. Well I guess that's 29,983 now that they found that one with a 'trace' of sarin gas....

I know I'm convinced!!

And one other thing. Answering a question with a question is a form of debate, bad form.

Well not really, it's an older form. But since I answered your question, I readily expect you to answer mine

No, the terrorists just happened to stumble on a GB binary 155mm arty shell. Or perhaps he picked one up at the local 7-11. And where you get the idea that the shell was "degraded" is beyond me.

Which begs the question why put it out in the open. Of course it could have been there for years or the terrorists didn't even know it contained sarin, but it makes a better story (and supports any administration 'reasoning') to say otherwise. Wouldn't you agree?

No, I would vehemently disagree. The most likely scenario is that they knew it was a Chemical shell, since even in Iraq Chemical shells have markings, but like you they had no idea on how a binary shell works or the best way to deploy it. Thank the Lord for the ignorance of some. Wouldn't you agree?

I know I'm convinced!!

LOL, who cares if your convinced. Your side lost the argument a long time ago.

Well not really, it's an older form.

No its a childish debating tactic used mostly by children.

But since I answered your question,

:-}You answered squat.

I readily expect you to answer mine

But I'll answer anyway, what was it you asked?

I disagree. This discovery PERFECTLY justifies the arguement.

Instead of you and alpowolf wasting time and space trying to poo poo the discovery today. Why not be more concerned about who's gonna find the rest of the WMD first. America or the REAL bad guys.

Or better yet...worry that the bad guys found them already and PRAY that we stop them from using it.

You are really funny in how you're trying to spin this.

"Kimmitt said the shell belonged to a class of ordnance that Saddam's government said was destroyed before the 1991 Gulf war (search). Experts believe both the sarin and mustard gas weapons date back to that time."

Sounds to me like SADDAM LIED! (shock and surprise) and he did NOT destroy the WMD like you so desperately want to believe. And that BUSH WAS RIGHT and that he was hiding the WMD and we WERE justified in going into Iraq last year.

"He said he believed that insurgents who rigged the artillery shell as a bomb didn't know it contained the nerve agent, and that the dispersal of the nerve agent from such a rigged device was very limited"

Sounds like they were testing the effectiveness of what they had.

The Iraqi's and the terrorists that are coming in from Iran, Syria and the Palistinian Authority might not be the brightest bulbs in the chandiler but they aren't completely stupid. They see that they we've stopped, for the most part, wearing our protective masks when we go out on the streets. What better time than now, when we've gotten complacent about chemical and biological pretective measures to launch a small test bio/chem attack inside of an IED?

"Could you expect, if held accountable, for every weapon, shell, bullet, to be presented for counting? But hold onto the theory that even the administration has discounted."

As a matter of fact YES! I DID have to account for every bullet I had in EVERY ammo clip I had. I also had to be accountable for the rounds I had fired for an entire year too.

And sorry to disappoint you but BG Kimmett would NOT go to the podium today...telling the world media that the IED contained Sarin unless CJTF-7, LTG Sanchez...OCPA and Amb. Bremmer were COMPLETELY sure there was Sarin gas.

And there's no way that medics would stick an atropine injector in some guys leg uless he was DAMN SURE the guy was going to do the dying cockroach if he didn't.

Now...I SERIOUSLY doubt that either one of you armchair QB's have spent the last year in and among the people in Iraq like I have. Otherwise you wou;dn't be making these assinine assumptions and statements. So why don't you take your trolling Moby @sses bacy to the land of the DUmmies where you can live happily with the rest of the tin hat crowd!

All I can say to you is that I'm glad you weren't around during WWII.

No one thought the Germans and Japanese could possibly become the nations they are today.

Your lack of knowledge about Iraq is rather astounding. That you are a hack who is tolerated on FR is even more astounding.
