And so we join with him, Merciful Father, in prayer and supplication for the safety and well being of all those who defend us, wherever they serve. Uphold them, protect them, for enormous is their commitment on behalf of people we will never see or know, yet they are willing to expend their life's blood that others might live in freedom and safety. Knit our national heart in earnest prayer for these brave men and women, for the death of just one will echo through a family for generations to come. Silence those who speak harshly against them or who are cavalier about their commitment ... they are fools. Turn media words from condemnation to appreciation, from hurt to help, from venom to victory, for surely this is a picture of the war raging in the heavenlies and on earth. Defeat the enemy of Your people, O God ... defeat the enemy of freedom and justice. Let them fall prey to their own evil ... let them devour themselves in their lust for power.
