Gibson would likely have embued it with transcendent values, but in fairness he took as many liberties with the history of William Wallace and his times as Petersen takes with The Iliad. True. But the Braveheart both 1) was entertaining, and 2) conveyed the core of the message of who William Wallace was. The prima nochte, French princess, and Robert Bruce variants really didn't alter that message.

if you had a son, a young son, you would understand why he was crying at point of drooling upon seeing that the bodies of his wife and son had been hanged and burned

DiCaprio as Alexander the Great. Perfect casting, IMHO. He's a girly man. Ironically, Jennifer Aniston told Brad to turn down a role in one of the Alexander films because playing a gay character would ruin his career. Word in Hollywood is that the two other actors in the other Alexander the Great movie wanted to do a gay love scene- that would be Colin Ferrell and Jared Leto.

I like Brad a lot too. More eye candy than actor, though. His best role was in 12 Monkeys. He was nominated for an Oscar, I believe. He deserved that one.

I never saw 12 Monkeys... I'll have to go rent that.
The more I think about it, the more I see Brad doing romantic comedies... I think that's where his career should head.

The recent "Helen of Troy" was done pretty well, I thought. You needed at least a vague idea of who the main players were in the grand scheme of things, but otherwise it somewhat embraced the political and mythical aspects of the Epic.
It certainly got my kids interested enough to crack some books, which is the way it should be.

I liked this one.

I still can't figure out the plot of that movie, but Brad Pitt was excellent. Was the Bruce Willis character the little boy at the end?

From this you presume I don't have children, based upon my NOT wanting to see a man drool on a 70mm Dolby screen?.........How very........odd. Lighten up! Mel Gibson doesn't droooooooool, but he still cries convincingly. Mel Gibson wins hands down; Crowe needs to close his mouth a little more.

Maybe that will take Bush off of Brad's mind for a while.Wouldn't work for me if I was married to Jennifer Anniston.
To: Paul Atreides
I thought Colin Farrel was playing Alexander the Great.

How do you know? The picture's properties indicate that it should be Zeus, and we don't see the whole statue.

More eye candy than actor, though.I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I think he's a pretty good actor.
