Check out the emails

You're telling me those incredibly long and often technical missives are coded? He mentions the Maasai--you think the Maasai are terrorists now?

Why is it the speculators ONLY want to look at the "suspicious" 'evidence' but not at actual evidence in the form of his direct communications, what everyone has said about him, and more rational(less paranoid) explanations for some of what you think are coincidences?!

Those emails don't look sinister or coded to me.

And no one said they were

But let us all continue to form conclusions and ignore all evidence that stands against our 'theories.'

I, for one, haven't formed any conclusions - nor have I ignored evidence - I have only tried to validate evidence. I do however have plenty of suspicions, of which I am trying to refute or prove in coming to a conclusion.

You seem to be one of the few who have formed a conclusion. As such, it is curious why you continue to post to the thread without adding any substance.

You are the one who put in bold "95 percent don't speak English." I'm not sure what that is supposed to signify.

Also I replied to you with that response because you're the one who posted the Inquirer link.

I've added plenty of substance. Maybe YOU aren't coming to conclusions, but I've weighed the evidence and there simply isn't any for either side of the "spy" angle. That INCLUDES spying for the US.

The email link is useful because it further demonstrates his experience, technical expertise and there's not a hint of 'coding' or negative attitudes towards America or towards anyone, really. He actually seems to be what he has been portrayed as.

I came to my conclusion as a reasonable person weighing evidence. It seems others came to their conclusions about AQ-sympathizing based on BAD reports from Fox and misremembered quotes from CNN and now want to ONLY examine the angle that fits that theory.

When the entirety of the evidence points away from it. Come on, calcow, we have people labelling Uganda and Kenya as "terrorist hotbeds" only because he's been there. Ignoring the Maasai experience, and they are not Muslim terrorists, is funny to me, because it shows how desperate some are to show any theoretical link to terrorism.

Sorry, I think P-Marlowe and Trinity are the ones who've been the most reasonable and actually examined facts and reasonable conclusions.

If Nick had visited Khartoum or Islamabad, I'd be more suspicious, but I'd still need some other kind of proof. Here, we don't have that proof, and we're relying on mischaracterizations of certain countries to play into some bizarre theory.

It's disgusting.

Hey Skywalk... how do you win a war?

Part of it is going in and destroying infrastructure and communication networks... and then replacing them with things that you control. Radio, television, etc. USAID is overseeing all the Iraq reconstruction effort. They have Haliburton, Bechtel, Fluor... and hundreds of others over there to make all that happen. Yet Nick Berg travels to Iraq alone to get contracts for Radio towers? Instead of looking for subcontracts with the above (english speaking) entities, he goes off on his own and contacts 95% non-english speaking people.

How do you lose a war? You let organizations like A.N.S.W.E.R. infiltrate the communication channels to feed propaganda to the general population and the troops so they lose confidence as to whether the final objective is achievable.

Can you say Vietnam?

I am not concluding anything... but they are questions worth asking and there are enough inconsistencies that warrant further review, IMHO.

Awesome! Thank you.

I think what's best to do, to keep the to keep thing from growing into a book, is to make a couple of add-ins you listed, and use the rest as a source/proof/detail.

I was hoping to keep it as short and clear as I could, because otherwise, people just scan it and then go on to repeat misperceptions, or they get so overwhelmed with details, they short-circuit and look for someone's quick interpretation. lol

I also have qualms about spending too much time describing the various details of how bad Prometheus Radio is, without showing a connection to Prometheus Methods. It seems we should work the file to establish a connection before we include stuff that could give the impression of guilt by an association not established.

I think the info you gave would be perfect "source" info. I'll make everything line up, and point to what you have. Either on your profile, or we can post them "together"...

No rush tho... I'm not at all ready to post this. lol Have my hands full at the moment, and I also want to follow up on a couple more things I found last night. Might just keep it on my profile page.

I posted the email as input to the post I responded to. You don't usually find U.S. Government personnel where "95% don't speak English", at least not in my experience.

I have not seen evidence to dismiss my suspicions. Maybe you're just that much smarter than me. ;-)

As to the rest... I think I covered it in what I just posted to you.

Like I said... I'm in favor of just letting this thread run its course... to either debunk or prove any suspicions. Another thread to highlight inconsistencies without proving anything out may just flare the emotions of those who consider everything debunked and find the discussion insulting to the Bergs.

I don't want to post it again... it's been said and referenced. Absent any new info, I'll save bandwidth, lol.

Kenya is a "terrorist hotbed." Even the French are fighting terrorists in Kenya.

Look at how far you had to go in your theory.

"research" my behind.

Look at that post. Now, without any evidence, you are saying Berg could have(why not say Bush COULD be involved in the NWO and is preparing the US for foreign domination too?) been involved in preparing radio transmissions of anti-US propaganda?

WHUH? Yeah, I could be a CIA agent who has been lurking and posting for years just to derail you on this quest too.

But yet you IGNORE the fact that he travelled solo in OTHER PLACES as well. INCLUDING THE US.

But to you that's just more suspicion, despite the fact people say that was in his personality.

SO because he doesn't hew to your standards of acceptable or non-suspicious behavior NOTHING HE DID can dispel your delusions.

Kenya is a "terrorist hotbed."

Yep... weren't those terrorists that bombed our embassy in Nairobi in 1998 killing hundreds and had plans to do it again a year or so ago? It's had more than its share of terrorist activities.

One problem. No Maasai I've ever heard of are terrorists. Another--by that standard the US is a terrorist hotbed. And Spain. And Germany. And France. Thailand too, now. And the Philippines. Is everyone who goes to one of those places a terrorist?

See how long the list can get if you define things in such a manner. Because a place has problems with terrorism doesn't mean the entire population or every visitor is a terorrist.

You've already talked me out of jumping to any conclusions about this.

Doesn't it seem peculiar to you that the countries he chose to be in, Kenya and Uganda, have recently been some that have been associated with greater terrorist activity? It might have been a couple dozen other countries he chose to enter instead, but it wasn't. I suspect that there are quite a few other students who DID choose those, but we'll never discover that because we don't have a graphic Iraq incident to bring it to light. You're right! It does NOT mean he was associated with the terrorists in those areas at all. It is a mite bit peculiar, though, adding that choice of countries to the choice of OU, similarly a target of FBI attention due to terrorists, to "continue studies" that he never really progressed much on... That his life "just happened" to be bound in some way with Moosee and unkle Zawar starts to raise real questions.

C'mon - I've actually rolled dice in the past. I've even rolled a "20" three times in a row on a 20-sided dice. I noticed that because it had some minor significance to me. I have no idea if I've rolled a 16, or any other number, three times in a row, though. I've no idea if I rolled a 13-14-15 sequence. All your disparaging remarks come down to the argument that this is all chance... that we're noticing the "13-14-15" only because we're looking for something further than the obvious... and most of us here concede that. It is weight of evidence that usually decides a case, though, not a "smoking gun" and there is surely a whole load in the basket of coincidences that may . < MAY > . counterbalance the "just a nice guy randomly snatched by terrorists in Iraq" hypothesis.

Your community college, MI, Wash St, snipers in DC, your occupation, etc. are a great example of random life events. No thread appears to wind through that... at this time ... but if it turned out that one of the DC snipers had stolen your MI password and used it to coordinate with his comrade, I would hope the FBI would look a bit further. Unlike your life there are at least two common "threads" that appears to wind through Berg's: that he is a "great guy" and his serendipitous association with "happening to be where terrorists are active."

Being oblivious to causal patterns in nature blinded science for nearly two thousand years after the Greek philosophers.

There's much I have not looked at. In fact, I'm not even trying to come to any conclusions now. I will even accept on your word that there is no evidence of terrorist coding in the EMails, since I've got to leave now for the day.

You don't need to leave the United States to find organizations like Prometheus Radio Project pirating radio waves and sending out pro-communist propaganda. (For that matter, you can look at the NYT, lol). But I do see a difference in visiting Ghana apparently as part of a study-abroad program and going into the heart of the Iraq war zone.

I'm not calling Nick Berg a terrorist, nor have I alluded to it. My suspicions go back to the activities of organizations like ANSWER and Pacifica Radio Network. Again... my suspicions are not conclusions.

"My son was not over there to make money," Michael Berg said. "My son’s business, which was very profitable before he went to Iraq ..I will make good on anything the company owes anybody, but it’s pretty much going to be defunct."

Well...silly me. Why was he over there, Mr. Berg???

You've already blamed President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and this country in which you've obviously prospered enough to live comfortably in West Chester, PA and sully your own son's massacre at the hands of terrorists our President is trying to destroy...
