I think he chose 'barer' on purpose, as though the 'truth' was hidden from us and he would come and lay it bare.
I don't mind what you did at all, BTW, but he struck me as one of those clowns burdened with an agenda so heavy, he can barely conceal it. Finally, it burst through.
