Fine.

Did you then leak the pictures and lie and say you were only acting under orders and you were doing no diffrent than everybody else?

The point is, the rule breaking with the personal camera is the minor aspect perhaps in and of itself, but it puts the lie to the business that they were doing this under the auspices of their jobs and under orders.

Their grinning faces put the lie from the start to the idea they were merely documenting abuse they objected to when anyone can see they are enthusiastically participating in the behavior.

If you mean Nelson, I think it's clearly an affectation. Can you imagine him and Kerry on a ticket. We'd all fall asleep before we could puke.

thank goodness for C-Span...No commercials, and no aggravating news scrolls and screen clutter!

Senator Bill Nelson...poor guy...what's going on with the space between his eyebrows. gravity attack on collagen?

Nelson is resorting to best tactic..just read aloud the description of the abuses..it sounds so awful, so accusatory, especially when immediately followed by his question about Rumsfeld having early knowledge and doing nothing.

Yikes! I can't get over how much Cambone looks like Howard Fineman.

Nelson seems determined to blame Cambone's office for Rumsfeld's failure to disclose to the senate what he knew about the abuses. Nelson wants a cover-up conspiracy so bad he can taste it.

More feigned indignation from the RATS about why Rumsfeld didnt' tell them about the nature of the photos, report, abuses.

Of course they ALREADY KNEW ABOUT IT!!! 17 of them received correspondence about it.

I'm shocked that FoxNews hasn't brought up that aspect whatsoever.

I thought about hiding it in my garage, but the GPS would call home to mama. I've made a few calls about returning to the Navy.

I violated the Geneva Conventions in 1953 by taking photos of Chinese POW's on Koje-do, in Korea. They were in line, awaiting interrogation, in the Quonset hut adjacent to mine.

My father was in Korea and I’ve seen his pictures from Koje-do. His pictures are the most gruesome I’ve ever seen.

#575..BINGO!...it's an affectation to make him sound important!

I remember him from years ago, and he didn't always talk so slow.

WooHoo! Slap down! If we'd had funding for the military through the 90's we wouldn't be in this situation.

Leaking to me means they were under government control and then given to the press. 60 Minutes didn't get their photos that way. Neither did Hirsh. I don't know how the Post got their photos.

Where do you think they got the photos?

My understanding from Rumsfeld last week is they went from the criminal division to the media before the Pentagon...We've speculated here that defense attorneys for the guards.

There are Federal programs to fund programs both for particular languages and particular cultural specialists, and linguists in general. They cover everything from tuition grants to research. The catch is that the recipients must come work for the government for a certain period. Most Academics not only personally shun these programs but put severe pressure on others not to support them - this pressure is not just at the social level but at the professionalevel. One risks appointments, tenures and scholarships. The next time you hear an academic complaining about language skill in America remember this.

Your post at 454 is pure beauty.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I owe all my contempt to my senator, Hillary Clinton, the Smooth-As-Marble-Facial-Spackle queen.
