(So Hillary, how DID you know about the descriptions of the abuse before Rumsfeld did? Hmmmmmmmmm??)

Karpinski was immediately given place of honor on all the talk shows. I was frankly surprised she was allowed to talk so freely so soon.
To: woofie
Karpinski has a husband.

That is great, because I can use a little optimism, now that my airline is about to go belly up. I just got my 777, and I may have to give it up. I am the lowest seniority pilot they have.

Taguba commenting on civilian translators and interrogators.
He just said that he interviewed a couple of translators who were from a third country, not US, not Iraq.
Why is the US military using foreigners? Why are we not training enough Americans in Arabic?
It's been more than two and a-half years since 9-11, and we should have had a large crop of American translators by now.
This is very disturbing. Potential fifth columns in our military sabotaging our interrogation efforts.

Ding, ding, ding!
Your post at 454 is pure beauty.

The military investigator who set off a firestorm of controversy with his damaging report accusing U.S. MPs of abusing detainees at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison is said to be "bittered" over what he regarded as the Army's mistreatment of his own father after World War II.
Ah, a little pocket article in case Taguba gets out of line. Then the wingnuts will come out and say that he's trying to get payback.

I just read that today, PD. I'm so sorry and hope it all works out for the airline and most certainly for you.
Is it certain they are going belly up?

Most of them, of course, use them for tourist type pictures to send home.Which is what I've been saying all along. Those pics were for bragging rights only to be sent to their equally sicko buddies.

A complete Clintonite. No disputing that.

HA! Every boot goes through GC briefing. Duh.

I have not been able to get into the nitty-gritty details and am currently operating strictly on major media info - is there any evidence that these were actions of dissidents intending to subvert our effort?

I was frankly surprised she was allowed to talk so freely so soon. Allowed? No, she was not allowed to open her mouth at all.

Is the press trying to discredit Taguba now??
Changing taglines.

Friends in the Pentagon tell me that Karpinski is going to get both barrels. She is up for Court Martial, and her media statements are going to be used against her to define dereliction of duty.I agree with you. In addition to her evident lack of supervising these yahoos, it was brought out today that she claims certain areas of the prison were off limits to her (I guess at the orders of "intelligence", is her tall tale), and Taguba said flat out he found NO evidence that was the case and he does not believe her. He more or less said she lied. Not a good omen for Karpinski, IMO.
To: Pukin Dog
Karpinski is gonna use the "I'm Polish" defense..
