(Dear) Editor, the Tribune: An occupied people have a right to resist. Apologize and bring our troops home now!
The invasion and occupation of Iraq were always about stealing Iraqi resources, privatizing the Iraqi economy to please corporate interests under the guise of "democracy" and building U.S. military bases in Iraq to strong-arm everyone in the region. The myth of WMD, administration lies connecting Saddam with 9/11, the fear-mongering over the forged Niger yellow-cake hoax, etc., were all shamelessly playing off the 9/11 event.
There are more than 10,000 Iraqi civilians dead, more than 620 U.S. military members killed and billions of taxpayer dollars wasted. The ridiculous lie that Iraqis would welcome U.S. invaders is exposed. What a foolish notion it is that Americans would be welcomed after the 1991 war - the aftermath of which oppressed Iraqis with U.S.-sponsored sanctions for over 12 years, murdering 5,000 preschoolers monthly for lack of clean water and basic medicines, according to U.N. figures.
Americans should realize that an occupied people have a right to exist. Americans should bring our troops home, apologize and care for them properly; Bush is cutting veterans care and benefits. Apologies and reparations to the Iraqi people should be required as they rebuild their country. Bush and his administration should be tried for war crimes. Our foreign policy is a disaster. We wonder why we are hated. Imagine what we could do for our children with our tax money if we werent spending it murdering other peoples children half a world away!

This thread may be pulled - and if it is then that's fine with me.....although I think it is important to see the direction the left is headed, and it headed toward VietNam....and the Military is about to get a full frontal attack, not by foriegn terrrorists, but by the same America-Hating mentality that infected the U.S. in the 60s and 70s.
Leftists want to be known as supporting "Our Troops" - and I will do a little checking on this, but I suspect that this individual chants with the other local leftists outside the local post office.
They support our "Baby Killing Troops" - Americans who support the war on terrorism are also baby killers.....and I am waiting for the spit to fly

They don't want to understand that it's kill them there or kill them(Islamists)here. I really think that my grandkids will see the day when America is under Sharia law. I suppose the America haters will finally be happy then.

We could just turn over the oil fields to Kuwait and pull out of Iraq ----- let these prisoners of war go --- they're Saddam's guys and they'll be torturing the Iraqi people --- but it doesn't have to be our problem. The US media and the liberals won't care what happens as far as abuse and torture then.

Another American who slept through 9-11.
This may help after that:
8 A Soldier's Father Speaks Out ~ (proud father of a decorated Army officer currently risking his life for our freedom in Iraq) "I am not fooled, when you focus on, highlight, and exaggerate the negative things that happen in Iraq, while ignoring our positive accomplishments, then tell us you support our troops." ~ E-mail w/ link, NewsMax | 5/10/04

"Bring our troops back"
I imagin what happens when American troops leave Iraq. Imagin who will be celebrating the victory? The Islamic fundamentalists ,pan- arab nationalists, and the rest of these thugs who have been murdering Kurds and any other Iraqies who said no for last 40 years.
If the world has acted before all the genocides happened or at the time when Kurdistan gassed, and when Afganstan was left in chaose, Sept/11 may have been prevented.
Dear dreamers Islamic fundamentalism with them Arab nationalism with all their oil reserve wants to rule the world and establish an Islamic state in Mosko and Washington, so wake up dreamers, may be you need another september /11 to realise.
That time they will kill and torture and gass nation then deny that they have done it.
Do you imagin a very great number of Arabs till this day denies that kurds has been gassed and allof this is propaganda and the mass graves are made by computer by Americans. If I tell them my friend was gassed she was a doctor and I know personaly the people who dissappeared and anfalised( their word for the genocide operation of kurds), they will not apologise or say sorry they will tell you ok they deserve it why they did not obey Saddam.
That is the world arround you and I think is coming nearer and nearer to you.

....although I think it is important to see the direction the left is headed...Very important. I had an argument with my liberal brother yesterday about the war, and from what I can gleam, these people simply saw Saddam as NO THREAT AT ALL TO OUR COUNTRY.
All the evidence that I pointed out, the motive which his humiliation in '91 provides, the blatant threats, the attempted assassination of a former President, the open sponsorship of suicide bombers, and after 9-11, the possibility that he could hit us through surrogates and remain anonymous, ALL fell on deaf ears.
Yes, there is a REFUSAL to hear, so maybe I'm being kind when I allude to an INABILITY to see the light.
I guess they fear the SUCCESS of George W. Bush more than they fear the safety of American citizens. As long as that's the case, they will not change their minds, IMHO.

"The invasion and occupation of Iraq were always about stealing Iraqi resources,.."
This premise is so absurd that it should not even be dignified by a response. The U.S. is not proftting by Iraqi oil. If we wanted to attack a Country for its oil resources, there are easier and weaker targets around.
"..privatizing the Iraqi economy to please corporate interests.."
This statement exposes the author as a communist or socialist. What's wrong with privatization?
"..under the guise of "democracy"
And what's wrong with democracy?
"and building U.S. military bases in Iraq to strong-arm everyone in the region."
Like the Fascist Baathists in Syria or the religious lunatics in Iran, or the Wahhabists in Saudi Arabia?
"The myth of WMD, administration lies connecting Saddam with 9/11, the fear-mongering over the forged Niger yellow-cake hoax, etc., were all shamelessly playing off the 9/11 event."
Each and every one of these situations were verifiable and factual. This writer has lost all touch with reality or is an active, blind Democratic activist - which is the same thing.
"There are more than 10,000 Iraqi civilians dead,.."
And WHERE, pray do THESE statistics come from? The same sources which provide "information" about gu-related deaths in America? Saddam killed over 300,000 Iraqis to benefit himself alone. I would think that even 10,000 dead Iraqis is a fair prive to pay to rid Iraq of Saddam and the world of Saddam.
" more than 620 U.S. military members killed "
Over 3,000 American Civilians were killed on 9-11. They are trying to kill even more of us. They have declared war on the west and on America in particular. The loss of any and all American fighting men and women in this conflict we have not initiated is regreted and mourned but unavoidable.
"and billions of taxpayer dollars wasted."
Since when are expenditures used to protect our civilization against an ideology which condones the mass murder of innoent civilians and is aimed at nothing less than the total destruction of our society a waste?
" The ridiculous lie that Iraqis would welcome U.S. invaders is exposed."
Nothing of the kind has occurred. The overwhleming majority of Iraqis welcomed the removal of Saddam and his murderous regime. Only a small number of Baathist holdouts, invading international terrorists, Syrian Baathist infiltrators and Iranian Shiite puppets are attempting to block the transition of power to a civilian Iraqi government.
"What a foolish notion it is that Americans would be welcomed after the 1991 war - the aftermath of which oppressed Iraqis with U.S.-sponsored sanctions for over 12 years,"
The aftermath of which permitted a brutal, bloody sadist and his family and followers to wreck vengance on those who supported us, thumb his nose at the U.N., its sanctions and thre rest of the world, and continue to plot against international peace and our nation, thanks to individuals who think like the author of this piece.
" murdering 5,000 preschoolers monthly for lack of clean water and basic medicines, according to U.N. figures."
Any consequnces of those actions were due directly to Saddam's failure to comply with the sanctions, AND the collusion of the U.N., Saddam and other international powers to profit from their collusion with the Saddam regime in the "Oil for Food" program.
The author of this piece is a transparent parisan Democart, presenting half-truths and outright lies to justify an unjustifiable attack on the administration. His statement flies in the face of all logic and the facts.
