Does anyone else think that bulldozing the prison is going a bit overboard? Am I coldhearted to think of the expense of putting on such a show? Is it worth it to spend that money in our effort to win hearts and minds?

Abu Ghraib is the only place in Baghdad large enough to hold the bad guys. If we level it there will be no place to keep the bad guys who want to kill us.
Or is that what the RATS want?

Rumsfeld made it clear that it would be a decision left to the Iraqis after the June 30 handover. Most of the prison is being used to house "common" Iraqi criminals, not enemy combatants.

Yes it is.
Rumsfeld said at the Senate hearing, regarding that, that that would be up to the Iraqi council or government after June 30, not a US decision. [That shut the questioner down.]
