Moe stuff is going to happen, what is Bush going to do then? Nothing then he must justify, morally, saying nothing. That is a sure loser. Or he must aoplogize for future stuff since future stuff is sure to be just as bad if not worse. How many apologizes to you think it will take before America says the hell with this?

What about other nations demanding an apology for whatever? Bush made a HUGE mistake that very well might cost us victory in this war. Certainly it will cost lives on the battlefield, now the Islamic enemy KNOWS he is fighting evil. Bush just admitted US forces are (sometimes) evil. Incredable mistake for a war time President. I would think troop moral will suffer badly.

We need a leader not a preacher.

I don't mind him [President Bush] "apologizing" for the methods of interrogation used on Iraqi prisoners if it helps in any way win the war against militant Islamic terrorists.

Sort of like where to Koran says its ok to lie to infidels.

Bush wants to win, but Bush doesn't want to do what it takes to win. He's too good, to decsent, too Godly a man for that. He'll go to heaven while the USA goes to hell.

I'm betting, though, that these guys never say the words "I'm sorry," even if they're in an accident or go to a funeral, or step on someone's toe inadvertantly. I don't imagine they're too much fun to be around..........just guessing though.....

My guess is the same. However, based on the vote in the House of Representatives, and a lot of comments on Free Republic, another guess is that they are in the minority. A vocal minority, to be sure. Perhaps one in which personal accountability isn't a major component of their personality.

So far I have not read one post by active duty military who isn't disgusted and outraged by the abuses at Abu Ghraib, and that is reassuring.

What is wrong with you and the others on here who are bashing the president on this? Do you want Bush to say, "Those folks were terrorists and they deserved to be brutalized because they do the same to us"? Would that have pleased you? Last time I checked the United States is supposed to be held to different standards than a bunch of Islamic thugs. What those enlistees did was a damn abomination, and Bush showed courage by condemning it and apologizing.

I was as frustrated as Rush was today.

The motivations of those leading this media assault are clear. It is politically motivated. Any perception of weakness lends their feigned outrage longer life.

I am tired of constantly feeling placed on the defensive concerning actions intended to preserve our freedoms, especially when we should more appropriately be on the offensive. It has been one issue after another. The frustration is cumulative.

Hearing the disputed apology issued from our President's lips, irked me. I have since calmed a bit.

The President does what he believes to be right, no matter the consequence. Irritating when I disagree, a source of pride when on the same side.

From a political perspective it was not the course I would have preferred. The war on terror is as much political as it is reality. The anti-war crowd claimed victory once through the means being levied against the administration AND public today.

I do not believe Bush was concerned with how his adversaries would attempt to use this against him politically. He did what he believed to be right. As he did when he made the decision to remove Saddam.

Agree or disagree, it is his desire to do what is right above possible political consequence that I do find to be among his more admirable traits.

Quite often, it also results in unexpected benefit to his favor.

What was said today is now out there. Two choices exist. Concede defeat to the appeasement crowd or continue to support a leader that has the strength to remain firm to his convictions of what is just behavior even at possible personal cost.

And what about the 9-11 hijackers going to a nudie bar the night before their attack? What about the Gitmo prisoners masturbating in front of their guards? Simply too many have been sucked in by the Islamic "humiliation" canard. I personally find women humiliating Muslim men, who I'm sure are devotees of Islams brutality of women, quite refreshing.

Cast your memory back to 2000. There were lots of Freepers who could not imagine GWB in the White House. They liked Buchanan or Keyes, and saw little appealing in W. I believe they must still feel the same way. I see courage, strength, humility and cleverness all together in the person of our President.

He continues to sail past all the flac the media and the Dems throw at him. I don't worry about the wailing Freepers.

President Bush practices a bit of wise diplomacy and he angers people like you. What exactly is it you would like? Bush v. Bin Laden in the wrestling wring?
