If my daughter ever sends me any pics I'll post them. She told me that she's afraid to mail her disposable cameras home because they are being taken out of the mail and the film exposed for security reasons. So, she's saving them to bring home with her gear.
She claims to have access to a digital camera and an internet connection, but I have yet to receive pics. I'ts driving me nuts.
She's been there with the 1st Cav since January and not one pic.

I sent my son a digital camera and he sends me the memory chip in an envelope. I download them on my computer and then develop them and send him the hard copies. He taped the memory card inside the envelope and it got here with no problem. He is the with 1st Cav unit that has been near Habbiniyah between Ramadi and Fallujah since September.

Just got a letter from my daughter. I thought I should share it. After reading it, I could only shake my head in wonder. After a day of listening to the Jackels attacking our military today, it made me wish that everyone of those fools could be forced to attend every memorial in Iraq... words kind of fail me at the moment.

Hi Dad,
How are things going at home? How is grandma doing? I really miss you guys!
Things here have picked up some. Dont get me wrong, work is still boring, but at least we have a routine now. Not much has happened here where I am, except that we find 30 to 40 IEDs [improvised explosive devices] during the morning sweeps alone, and about one every hour (at least) after the sweep. Today we heard about a raid on a home where the IEDs in our area were being put together. About two weeks ago a tank was posting guard during a raid and when they moved locations they ran over an IED. It flipped the tank over and one soldier died and one injured badly.
You know what the saddest thing for me here is? Im the Guidon [unit standard] bearer for my company, and everytime a soldier [in our brigade] dies I have to attend the memorial services. During the service I cant help but to cry. I see these soldiers who knew the person who died, and just seeing how badly they hurt, it makes me cry. Maybe Im just a big baby, but its hard, because Im the only female Guidon in the BDE [Brigade]. So, most of these soldiers that die are in a combat MOS where there are no females in the unit. 90% of the time I am the only female attending these ceremonies. Its hard to hold the tears back. But I cant let these boys see me cry! No way!
Anyhow, other than that, everything is going well for me.
Thank you guys so much for the goodies you have been sending. I really appreciate it. You guys are awesome!
Oh, by the way, Grandma, thank you so much for the copy of Great Grandmas Memoirs, it was great. Very interesting stuff.
I love you guys very much. Please take care.
Dad, behave! I love you! Give Grandma lots of hugs and kisses for me!
Love Zynthia.
