Nan's FReeper Party for the President – Newark OH

About the warmest day of the year and SUNSHINE galore was the welcoming "committee" at Cherry Valley Lodge ( http://www.cherryvalleylodge.com/packages/seasonalpackages.cfm ) in Newark OH. This was the Ohio/WV FReeper Party for the President.. hosted by WVNan. Nearby is Dennison College & just a little further is Kenyon college.. both prestigious small private liberal arts schools. The country side is beautiful & bucolic. Here are a few shots of the grounds:

. . . .

. . .

. . . .

All of us met at least one new person.. Many of us met several. There were 9 FReepers and 3 spouses who shared the afternoon. I understand President Bushes' committee had hoped for 2004 different groups to be held that day/night. As usual we were over expectation with over 8000 parties being held around the nation. I also attended a large (150+)PM party in Mentor Ohio (another thread…later, eventually ????) where there was a video from the president & also live questions from parties answered by VP Cheney. That being said, I should interject that .. We had our own VIPs in Newark..

Included are below.. Dr. Deb.. our "poll lady" who did not disappoint with a great handout & good presentation that was in sync with Common Tator's prior presentation. Deb as a professional educator is a tribute to womanhood & to Politics done Right…she is fun to watch & listen to.! Thanks Dr. Deb.

. . . .

It is always a pleasure to listen to Common Tator's words.. some personal, some historical, some political, FULL of information with a smattering of humor & a smattering of uplifting material. His presentation was great & the question & answer following added depth. What a shame more could not have made the choice to attend & hear him. Alone that was worth the time, effort & $$$.

ohioWfan.. what a heavenly voice doing a luscious Sandi Patti presentation of God Bless America. She said she didn't like to PA.. but she is a pro & her genuine grace flowed & oozed around the room. She had a display of photos & memorabilia from son Eric's tour in Iraq. Many on FR have been prayer warriors with ohio & Eric… (Dr . Deb is holding a ceremonial "something" in her pix)

And then there is Nan.. dear WVNan.. our resident preacher and party organizer.. .. with a huge smile & hearty laugh. She brought 2 friends.. one Kathey , a returnee from last summer & newbie Jennifer. Hope they will register & be part of the FR family. Nan provided many "special things" including a flip flop a piece… (wont mention which FReeper took 2 – okay, accident?)…Thank you Nan for a wonderful job & the financial & time spent to make it a special day of sharing for us all.

.

The FLIP FLOPS

Newbie mntntop3 & wife were fun to chat with.. from Marietta .

Below are Dutchess & Common Tator

BTW…. Dutchess won the doorprize.. Sean Hannities new book..

Below Mountaineer & Molly Pitcher "whoopin' it up"

Mountaineer, Dutchess & WVNan share some "chat"

Most of you know I live with my invalid mom. Her ALWAYS question (no matter where I go etc) is: "What did you have to eat?" I always take a pix to show her .. and FYI.. it was a deluxe deli tray. Delicious bread, red skin on potato salad & I had a tomato Vegetable soup. The tea was called Long Island Cola Tea.. it was good but didn't taste much like the drink. I gobbled down my entire dish of goodies. Restrained myself from eating the Atkin's followers deserts. Good DollyCali. Richard our server was a delight. College student who was majoring in economics.

. . . .

Another shot of WV attendee is Mountaineer.. Gentle, funny, smart, considerate.. love her posts & love to listen to her when she gets a chance amonst many of we more "vocal (pushy, obnoxious) Freepers" .She is proudly displaying her flip/flop. From her sweet spirit one would never guess she to be a former asst Prosecuting Attorney !!!

Here are the FReepers present…

LOL, we all liked our "small" pictures best. Those close-ups are too graphic for some of us. dutchess, do you have the picture of Kathey? I thought it was a good one. She is such a blessing to me. She's closer to me than my daughter. Says she will care for me in my old age. What more could one ask of a friend?

My problem is that I still look........in my head........like I looked a few years back. Pretty decent.

But when I see pictures, it shocks me into the reality that the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be........

I know exactly what you mean ohio. I feel sixteen inside and can fool myself that I'm still the same on the outside until I see a picture.

Duh. Do you know what I completely forgot to tell everyone at the party? Kathey's son just joined the Army and is doing his basic training in Ga. If my brain every got in gear I'd be dangerous. I feel awful that I forgot to mention that, even as we talked about Eric.

I talked with Kathey about her son, Nan. Maybe others did too.

If not, we all know about him now, and can lift them all up in prayer.

(Don't feel awful........you had a LOT to think about and do......)

It's not the photos that snap me back to reality, it's the every-morning aches and pains!

I think you're right, but I always try to be comfy at a freep - shorts or jeans, depending upon the weather!

I do feel bad ohio. Kath is so dear to me. I can't believe I was so neglectful. We had talked about Brian on the trip up there. I'm going to see if I can get a picture from her and post the information about him at the canteen and maybe at the Finest.

Girl, you are waaaaay too young for aches and pains. Exercise, exercise, exercise. I ran up 37 steps last week and wasn't even winded.

Well, I've always gotten pains in unusual ways, and it's getting worse as I get older.

I've been working out 3 times a week and walking about 5 nights with Mr OH.

Last Thursday evening I stepped on an itty bitty rock and rolled my ankle. I iced it, and nursed it for a couple of days, but wanted to walk Saturday, so I didn't get completely out of shape.

Then last evening, I was walking around the coffee table and avoiding the music stand nearby, and somehow threw my lower back out of place, so I had to ice it too.

I figured it was because I had been limping that my back was so easily messed up (otherwise it makes NO sense at all!). I went to the fitness center again this morning, but YIKES, I can't seem to win for losing here!

Maybe I wouldn't be such a mess if I didn't try to be so healthy! ;o)
