Commission Members release a statement: The meeting was extraordinary. It lasted more than three hours and the president and vice president were helpful.

The Commission realizes that they are viewed as a steaming pile of dung on a hot day by the American people at this point. This is an effort to rehabilitate themselves as fair and balanced so that when they release their partisan hack-job before the election blaming George Bush for 9-11 it will be more credible.

It won't work. Gorelick still must resign and be called as a witness to have any chance at partial rehabilitation.

Terry Moran asked in an accusatory manner about Kerrey and Hamilton leaving early. McClellan directed him to ask them about any previous committments they had and Moran asked two or three follow-ups as if it was the WH's fault those two left early.

Helen on a tangent about the Iraqi people wanting us out of their country which McClellan disputes.

Clymers think Scott said the August PDB was brought up with the commission (it may have been, but Scott is not giving specifics of what was said, so they are wrong that he said that). McClellan says he did not say that. He said he was asked about it and he said the WH position is the same.
