I was willing to give ABC the benefit of the doubt until I heard they did something like this during the Vietnam era. Add that to Tokoyo Ted's stated position on the war and I've decided this is a pretty sleazy stunt.

Something must be wrong with you. The showing of a blurred image of a part of the trade center was offensive. Showing the names and photos now of those who are deceased is good journalism. ABC says so.

Did Koppel ever read the names and show pictures of the victims of 9-11? If not, I must question his motives. (sarcasm)

If so, I'm in favor of it.

If the purpose was to honour the soldiers it might be a great thing. I told my wife last night if Fox News were doing this, I'd have zero problem with it. I just don't trust the motives of ABC.
It's amazing how the big media is loathed.

Bump comment:
Let's return the "respect" Nightline gave to our dead troops.
How about getting some anti-homosexual Christian TV evangelist to read the names of gays who die of AIDS. We can even show their pictures, and maybe interview a few crying relatives.
Would the media see this as creepy? Tacky? Sick? Would they see it the way we see Nightline?

Didn't I hear that Koppel's dad had a radio program during WW2 and that Herman Goring paid money out of his own pocket if Koppel's dad read all the names of the American dead at the Normandy invasion? Koppel's dad attempted to make a similar deal with Tojo about Iwo Jima but they couldn't reach a agreement on price because Tojo thought the show ratings were actually much lower. Somebody should ask Ted if this is true.

Great idea. That would rupture a few blood vessels in liberal skulls, and send even more into fits of sputtering incoherence.

Columbus, OH- WSYX
Channel 6 (WSYX) always runs Seinfeld at 11:30 and runs Nightline after. Maybe now I know why.

You are correct sir. Pardon my grammar. I am also a product of southern education :-) Just kidding. I travel a great deal, and I feel more at home in some foreign countries than i do in say.....oh.....Taxachussets.

God Bless them-- In another time, the people wouldn't stand for Ted's treason for sweeps. In another time, Ted wouldn't dare pull this subversive stunt. May Ted Koppel learn the hard way that terrorists don't like him despite his appeasement. ping for Southern patriotism
