No, I don't think looking at the number of US traffic deaths in the past year is irrelevant.....most American's are going about their business completely complacent about what's going on in the world....we are at WAR....but, the next thing we'll hear is a poll about how, because of how many soldiers we've lost, we've got to leave....these soldiers ARE FIGHTING FOR American's FREEDOM to drive around, drink your latte's, watch that TV show, build homes, go to school, and travel around the world, etc....WAKE UP people.....the enemy just upped the ante.

PRAYERS for the soldiers families.

Ten U.S. Soldiers Killed in Spate of Attacks in Iraq

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Ten U.S. soldiers were killed in attacks around Baghdad on Thursday, eight of them in a car bomb explosion just south of the capital.

The deaths took to 534 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in action since U.S.-led forces invaded Iraq 13 months ago. About 125 of them have been killed in April, the bloodiest month for U.S. forces in Iraq since the invasion.

The car bomb went off just south of Baghdad near Mahmudia at about 11:30 a.m., the U.S. military said in a statement.

"Initial reports indicate that eight U.S. soldiers were killed and four were wounded," it said.

The soldiers were all from the 1st Armored Division and the wounded were flown to a Baghdad military hospital by helicopter, it added.

Shortly before dawn, a U.S. soldier was killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in eastern Baghdad, a separate statement said.

At around 10 a.m., a roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier and wounded another in the town of Baquba, 40 miles north of Baghdad. Iraqi police said an Iraqi civilian was also killed in the attack.

With just weeks to go before the United States hands over sovereignty to Iraqis on June 30, U.S.-led forces face a growing insurgency.

New polls showed Iraqi civilian deaths combined with heavy U.S. losses this month have eroded support for President Bush's war plan both among Iraqis and among the Americans who will vote on his re-election in November.

[Are we getting into a situation where the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing in Iraq?

To be perfectly honest with you, that has been my impression for some time now and has nothing to do with our soldiers and marines that are in harms way. They are doing a great job. They are doing what they are allowed to do.

Marines packing up? Seriously? Is this related to the Iraqi generals coming into the picure?

They are repositioning themselves so that can better protect themselves and to aid in less civilian casulties.

Fox News reporting that 3 planes striking 3 areas at the present in Fallujah.

As long as it takes to figure out who died I think. I just looked and I don't see where they've identified the war dead yet. Interesting question.

......it seems we're the only ones keeping our ends of the deals.

No surprise. The only surprise would be if we actually believed there was a possibility that the terrorists would hold up their end of the bargain.

Hang in there. The first thing that gets shut down is communications when there has been any kind of incident such as this to prevent others in the unit from giving out any information before the family has been officially notified. You can check the DOD site they will usually release the names within a couple of days.

It is about time that someone 'nails' them on it. Sedition is serious business. We should have learned the lesson in WWII. But, here we are 60 years later paying the same price for the arrogance of fools.
