Does this honor the dead, or exploit them?

I'm certain anyone who is interested can find that sort of information on their own. They don't need Nightline to hold their hand.

If this were intended as a tribute to those who gave all in service to this great country, I would be proud. But it is not...it is a political attack exploiting dead heroes and is despicable.

On Glenn Beck's radio show this morning they're reading the list of those that are still alive!

They are really getting desperate. I knew Kerry was doing poorly, but I had no idea it was this bad for him.

Screw all the Leftist/Socialists/Appeasers, it is because of them that there is a WAR:
WAR solves/solved ALL conflicts, Appeasement only brings WAR.
People need to understand this
NO MORE Appeasement !
HO HO HEY HEY Appeasement HAS GO !

Well, I suppose that will be a more interesting program than the usual liberal screeching on Nightline. Nice to honor the dead, even if the motives are undoubtedly political and the dead are just being used to further a political agenda with which many, no doubt, violently disagreed.

This is simple to counteract.
Simply get another network (in my dreams) to do a two day show, listing all the deaths (with their photographs) caused by motor vehicles in the U.S. for one year.
After that, show pictures of all who had abortions, for one full year.
That'll put a sreeching halt to that propaganda.

"'The Fallen' is our way of reminding our viewers -- whether they agree with the war or not -- that beyond the casualty numbers, these men and women are serving in Iraq in our names. and that those who have been killed have names and faces"
Interesting. The killed from this war, so unpopular with the left and its media, ABC thinks should be "remembered".
Those who have been killed in Afghanistan, though, which had much broader support, do not have "names and faces." Except for Pat Tillman.

My reply to ABC:
If your so called "tribute" to the war dead wasn't so contrived it would be honorable. You are, however, trying to do nothing more than use this for political purposes seeing as how you are a liberal media source.
Don't patronize those of us who have served quietly, without cameras, and without political ambitions, by "honoring" our brothers and sisters with this tripe. The names and pictures of the fallen are out there for anyone to find, if they care to.
You have fallen to the wayside like your sister network CBS as far as relevance is concerned. Good bye to ABC.

I don't know what ABC's intent was, but it will honor them. I have tried to read every name, and when possible, look on every face to try to burn their memory into my brain forever. I want to know those who gave their lives for my freedom and my country and I want to make sure I never forget them.
So I don't care why ABC is doing this, I want these men and women remembered.

Why doesn't some show start reading a list of those killed by liberal policies? Well, I know it would take several lifetimes to read the names, but maybe we could come up with just the recent ones. Start with all the political prisoners killed by Castro this week. Next, list all the Christians killed by China. You could add all the dead crack babies of welfare mothers to the list. Maybe a list of aborted babies, with the names of moms who now regret their abortions, and the names that they would give their child if they hadn't made the mistake of killing it because liberals said they could.
List the cops killed by gangsters who are illegal aliens protected by liberal border policies, all the drivers killed by illegal alien drivers without insurance, and by border smugglers driving the wrong way on highways to avoid roadblocks.
List the crime victims killed by criminals released from jail by liberal judges on some technicality or other, or who got lenient sentences for serious offenses.
That ought to keep us occupied a lot longer than one Nightline show, and be more revealing.

Meanwhile:
About 115 U.S. soldiers have been killed this month alone, compared with fewer than 100 in the three weeks it took to oust Saddam. In all, 523 have been killed since they invaded Iraq.
